OTD 150 years ago, a portion of #HerneBay's 1st pier (designed by Thomas Rhodes for Thomas Telford), which had fallen into disrepair, was put up for auction. Sail trolley "Old Neptune's Car" had conveyed passengers along the length of the pier's tramway to their awaiting steamer
