🇩🇪 UEFA EURO 2024 TICKET BALLOT 🇩🇪 (6 mins reading time)
💨 Summary of the ballot, including a lot of FAQs.
A key point to note is an unsuccessful application in this ballot gives you access to future ticket sales through 'fans first' programme
🏟️ Stadium capacities are reduced at all stadiums due to no safe standing allowed - e.g. Dortmund’s famous ‘yellow wall’ will be reduced and stadium capacity will go from 81,000 to an all seated 66,000
📅 Deadline to apply, modify or cancel your application is THIS Thursday 26th October at 1pm. You can apply for up to 4 tickets per game and only one game per day
🚂 Match tickets will include free train travel for 36 hours - from 6am on matchday until 6pm the day after. Seems likely this will be for travel anywhere within that stadium’s ‘regional transport network'
🤔 UEFA’s wording is unclear, it is ambiguous if there will be a SECOND general public ballot once the draw is done OR only a sale to fans of the PNAs (Participating National Associations) applying for tickets through their FAs
✍️ UEFA states “A further 1 million tickets will be on sale – to supporters of the participating teams following the tournament draw on 2nd December”. Elsewhere they state “following the final tournament draw on 2nd December, a new ticket sales phase will take place. At that time, it will be possible to select matches based on the qualified teams”
🧮 SSC members currently: 11 points = 11,615, 12 points = 7,245 & 13 points = 4,985. Based on 16% allocation (as at previous tournaments) then 12 points will probably be the minimum required to guarantee tickets at most stadia, when the SFA give out access codes for their PNA sale to SSC members

HOWEVER
📱 A reminder that you are only allowed tickets to one match per day on the UEFA ticketing app – so if you are randomly successful in tickets for a match on the same day Scotland are playing, this might exclude you from the official SSC allocation. The English FA has warned their fans about this but the Scottish FA has not yet
⚠️ If you don’t have enough SSC points to get allocated Scotland tickets, a warning if you ONLY plan on applying for tickets through this potential “second ballot” after the draw, it will not be for many tickets, if it does happen. Based on estimated figures:
💯 2.7million total tickets across the 51 matches:
🎟️ 500,000 (18.5%) to corporate and sponsors
🎟️ 2.2m (81.5%) to ‘general public & fans’. Broken down into :-
🎫 1.2m (44%) current general public ballot
🎫 864k (32%) PNA allocation
🎫 136k (5%) leftover, across 51 games, if there is a second general public ballot
5⃣ So even if there is a second public ballot there would be only 5% of tickets, (an average) under 2,700 per game to apply for – although you’d mainly only be competing with other Scotland fans and opposition fans for that match
⬆️ However - this current ballot that closes on Thursday is for 44% of the available tickets so you have a bigger chance of success. The risk is you are successful in this ballot for a non-Scotland ticket on the same day Scotland are playing - and therefore excluded from buying Scotland tickets at any future stage
THIS BALLOT
🚫 A reminder that you are applying randomly for fixtures of unknown teams e.g. B1 v B3 and B2 v B4 - These numbers DO NOT correlate to pot numbers. So it is not possible to narrow down what group we are in or the location of our games until the draw
🦠 28 million applicants for Euro 2020 which was reduced capacities during Covid and spread among multiple countries - so potentially more applicants for this tournament.
🤏 However, based on a conservative 28 million applicants for 1.2 million tickets. If every person applied for just 1 ticket - then it's a 4% chance of your application being successful.
🤏 More realistically, as the maximum is 4 tickets per person, if only 300,000 people were successful in their applications, it would be a 1% chance of getting a ticket. Probably less.
💺 As you apply for matches, you can see different levels of "demand" for each category of seat. Generally speaking the most expensive category 1 seats have the lowest demand and the cheapest 'fans first' tickets, seated behind the goals, have the highest level of demand. You will naturally have a better chance in the categories with less demand, but it's still a very low chance of being allocated any tickets due to the millions of applicants.
🤷♂️ Your application could be entirely successful, partially successful, or not successful at all. So you could be allocated tickets for all, some or none of your applied matches. However, if you are allocated tickets for a match, you will always be allocated the full number of tickets that you requested for that match.
💰 The ticket price graphic is below, 10% of total tickets will be €30 and nearly 40% less than €60 . Remember that if you are successful in your application you have to pay for and accept all tickets - you can’t remove any matches. So if you apply for 16 matches and are successful for all 16 matches, you’d have to pay for them all by your deadline given – or pay for none and lose them all. 🌷 You wouldn’t be able to sell any tickets until the UEFA resale platform launches in Spring 2024 (where you can sell to other fans for exactly what you paid)
-----
-----
🔼 You can only be upgraded or downgraded by one category – i.e. : if you apply for category 2 tickets, you may be allocated tickets in either category 1 or category 3. Therefore, you might improve your chances by not applying for the most expensive or least expensive category – as with those you can only be allocated tickets in one other category rather in two other categories
📩 The outcome of your ticket application will be announced by email and in the Ticket Portal by 14 November at the latest. For the last tournament, most could see the result of their application in their ticket portal before they received an email informing them.
📱 All tickets are electronic, on the UEFA app, and if you are successful for 4 tickets for example, all 4 tickets will be on your app and you can choose to "transfer" to another person's app, or "keep" (if you are travelling with someone without a smart phone for example). Obviously, with the keep function, you will have to enter the stadium with everyone using your phone (remember to pack a battery power bank)
⛔️ Tickets can't be printed or downloaded as a pdf, even a screenshot won't work. Only the ticket in the app will gain entry - so don't fall for any scams of anyone offering their printed tickets.
If you can't attend the game, you can transfer the tickets to friends through the app, but this is only once you have the ticket on your app which won't be until much closer to the tournament
🆕 If you are successful and get a new phone after receiving the ticket on your phone - make sure to log out of the app on your old phone! Then login to the UEFA app and re-register your new phone. If you lose your phone or don't log out of the app on your old phone, you will have to go to ticketing office at the stadium with your passport, new phone and email confirmation of tickets you bought
🌷 It would be advisable to enter this ballot now (even if just applying to the final) – you will almost certainly not get it, but your unsuccessful application puts you into the 'Fans First' programme
🥇 Those fans will be the first to be receive emails to purchase returned tickets, such as from failed payments. This will likely be in November before the December draw but will also apply to future resale tickets in Spring 2024. I got my tickets for Euro 2020 through this method about 2 weeks before the tournament
🏟️ In the comments, images are attached of each of the 10 stadiums, showing the 5 categories of tickets available:
🔴 Red: Category 1: the two touchline stands; or in the lower blocks in the corners.
🔵 Blue: Category 2: in the corners & behind the goals; or touchline stands, above Category 1
🟢 Green: Category 3: in the corners & behind the goals, further away from the pitch than Category 2
🟠 Orange: ‘Fans First’: behind the goals.
🟣 Dark red: Corporate & hospitality
🚂 Lastly I've included a graphic of train times between the venues and
