Profoundly true take from CNN aviation correspondent @PeteMunteen at 1002pm Eastern: "This clearly, Abby, will be a tragedy that will change aviation. Mark my words now. You are looking now at the incredible response there on the shores of the Potomac River...This is really staggering that this has happened and there have been close call after close call involving commercial flights on the runways of commercial airports, major airports in the U.S., an incident, a spate of incidents that really took off in 2023. None of them ended up ending up occurring with a mid-air collision like we have seen here. The fact that this involved not only a commercial flight, which is equipped from top to bottom with anti-collision technology, something called TCAS -- Traffic Collision Avoidance System, mandated by the FAA in most commercial airliners since the early 90s, but also the pilots are well trained. The aviation system -- commercial aviation in the U.S. is the gold standard for safety. We are the example for every other country. There is not been a significant crash with fatalities, and we do not know if there are fatalities here in the U.S. involving a commercial flight since the Colgan air crash of 2009 led to sweeping changes in regulation and pilot experience requirements. The fact that this happened in D.C. over near Reagan National Airport, some of the busiest airspace in the country and one of the single busiest runways in the national airspace system, is really pretty incredible."
I'm loving @United's all-new inflight map feature called Control Tower view.
This lets you see where you are on the airfield, as well as all the planes around you, including flight numbers, operating airline and aircraft type.
Super cool stuff!
To be honest, I now believe the biggest reason why China can defeat the United States in the new cold war is that Chinese people are smarter than Americans. I know this may seem politically incorrect, but I increalingly believe it is the truth.
20 years ago, I had two master degrees from a top 20 universities in China and a top 5 university in the United States. At that time, I had a strong feeling that my Chinese classmates were smarter than my American classmates. Among my Chinese classmates, I encounter about one out of every ten who I consider to be 'very smart', but among my American classmates, I only know one but who is a Chinese from Beijing.
In the past six years, we have seen that Americans have used everything possible, trade war, technology war, military threaten, propaganda war, diplomatic war.......Although they had caused China a lot of troubles, but none of them has real and long term effect. On the contrary, China has continuously achieved strategic victories in military, technology, manufacture, trade and other aspects fo hard power. Of course, this result can be attributed to many reasons, but I think the most essential reason is that the Chinese are smart enough to come up with the most reasonable ways to deal with the American attacks.
This is completely different from the old Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States. In the last Cold War, except in the Vietnam War, Americans were in a difficult position because of their arrogance. They were always in the upper hand. Americans created many traps and brought many troubles to the Soviet Union. They were constantly inspired by these small victories, and I believe they must have a sense of superiority in intelligence at that time. But in the Cold War with the China, they achieved literally nothing, I believe what they have now are just deep depression. This is alo why Americans are less and less interested in this cold war with China.
“China and the US together can solve all the problems of the world!”
- Trump.
“Xi Jinping was a friend of mine. We spent hours and hours talking.”
Only Trump can say this without Republicans going nuts! 😆
🔥🚨PRESIDENT XI JINPING WARNS THE U.S. 🇨🇳🇺🇸:
The U.S. needs to back off and stop pushing for a trade war with China. As Xi Jinping said, "Tariff wars, trade wars, and technology wars go against the historical trend and economic laws, and there will be no winners." China is not afraid to defend its economic interests, so the U.S. better think twice before starting a fight it can't win.
China is ready to take on any challenge. China has built it's economy to withstand external shocks, and they are prepared for anything. The U.S. can try to decouple and break chains, but the U.S. will suffer greatly!
It's time for the U.S. to face reality: China is a global economic powerhouse that's here to stay. Instead of trying to hold onto its fading power, the U.S. should work with China to promote global growth and stability.
Time is running out!
As much as I supported Trump,I see no maturity or character in those who also supported him yet make mockery of those who were devastated and disappointed with the other side’s loss. We can and know better than that. We can and we have to unite and it’s not gonna happen overnight

Lol.
Last week, @Delta teased that "something big is coming soon." That "something" was supposed to debut today.
Of course, given the meltdown, this reveal is now delayed indefinitely.
After all, I'm still hearing that travelers can't even manage their trips online!
Another day, another meltdown brewing for @Delta.
~20% of flights are already canceled today, and hundreds are delayed. And it’s only 9am ET.
Not sure when this ends, but it’s clear that this is now a Delta issue — the other U.S. airlines have basically recovered from Friday.
Anyone blaming Trump for this is wrong.
Anyone blaming Democrats for this is wrong.

Anyone blaming Biden for this is wrong.
