A rare statement from Canada about the 9000+ Palestinians in Israeli administrative detention, many of whom are held without charge or trial and face deprivation and systemic abuse.

Canada expresses deep concern over the "deterioration of Dr. Abu Safiyah's health," a Gaza hospital director who was kidnapped in 2024, tortured, and whose life is in immediate danger.

This is not enough. Canada must call for the immediate release of Dr. Abu Safiyah and other Palestinian hostages, and back these words with concrete sanctions against the Israeli regime.

Canada's Foreign Minister @AnitaAnandMP once again says that the "original attacks" on Iran by the US and Israel "looked to be a prima facie violation of international law."

This is baffling because Canada immediately supported those illegal attacks, never retracted their support, and recently said that the war was "worth it."

Now, Anand tells us to ignore these past war crimes and focus on supporting the recently renewed US attacks on Iran, which Carney said yesterday are "appropriate."

Canada should be a force for de-escalation and a permanent ceasefire, not serving as a cheerleader for war criminals.

Many people don’t know this, but the crossed-arms “X” signal is FIFA’s universal gesture for reporting racist abuse.

When a player, coach, or team official makes that signal, they’re informing the referee that racist abuse has occurred. It is meant to trigger FIFA’s three-step anti-racism protocol: first stop the match, then suspend it if the abuse continues, and ultimately abandon the match if it doesn’t stop.

Today, Egypt manager Hossam Hassan made the “X” gesture from the touchline. Instead of initiating the protocol, the referee booked Hassan with a yellow card and allowed play to continue.
