@King0243_PJC No British PM is history has had a mandate. The party holds the mandate. The leader of the party becomes PM. If the party decides to change their leader, then new leader becomes PM.
That is the British system.
@jonmikesav8 That's literally how every PM has been elected. They win a constituency seat and their party elects them as leader. As leader of the biggest party in parliament they become PM.
@piersmorgan And just like that Messi enters the record books again, this time as the greatest goalscorer in the history of the World Cup.
He has more goals at World Cups past the age of 35 than most greats have had in their whole careers.
@SS66199@EimhearMurphy Ah yes I remember one of the rioters writing a piece on the difference between preventable crimes and non preventable crimes right before he set light to the bus.
Also a man born here committing a crime is not a "non-preventable crime".
@CarverEmily The PM is the leader of the party with the most seats in parliament. That party currently is Labour. If Labour elects Burnham as their next leader then he rightfully becomes PM.
This has been the UK political system since at least the 19th Century.
@SangitaMyska If Burnham can bring the Labour party back to the working class even just a little bit it will be the end of Reform, who I also suspect are clinging on for dear life and will implode in the next 18 months or so.
@Sargon_of_Akkad So everyone over 40 grew up in a wonderful, idyllic Britain and then what? Became adults and wrecked the country for the next generations?
@BobbyBill1982@FunkyCowboy1@raelbrav Roots of socialism started in the 18th Century. Formally socialist movements started to organise in the late 19th Century. 1945 saw Labour win power and introduce the Welfare State (including the NHS).
@Nigel_Farage If Reform win the next general election the UK is well and truly fucked. Giving a bunch of ex-Tories who spent 14 years destroying the country another go at it? Are we really that stupid as a people now?
@Gerdundula69@gingerrtom@K_Stand_Red Trump doesn't care about the UK, he barely cares about the US.
He's a conman interested in only one thing - his own wealth but he's somehow managed to convince millions of gullible idiots he cares about them.
@MatthewOToole2 The dangers of social media and influence from outside forces and foreign interests laid bare. There are hostile governments and wealthy individuals actively undermining UK political stability.
The people need to wake up to this threat.
@BenGrahamUK That's how the British political system works. The leader of the party with the most seats becomes PM. If Labour decide to change their leader, the new leaders becomes PM.
In the UK you vote for the party.
In the US for vote for an individual.
