Departments commended for strides in 2025/2026 administrative performance, driving reforms through policy oversight and stakeholder engagement with a "singular unity of purpose." Thank you @edmnangagwa
I welcomed the Politburo to the 398th Ordinary Session, marking the start of the 23rd ZANU PF National People’s Conference opening this Friday in Chinhoyi. Our focus is clear: translating party resolutions into tangible economic results.
We reviewed final preparations and the Central Committee Report. I urged Committee Chairs to be guided by the collective wisdom of our delegates. Every deliberation must enhance intra-party democracy and positively impact the quality of life for all Zimbabweans.
I commend our Departments for great strides in our 2025/2026 administrative performance. Through policy oversight and stakeholder engagement, we continue to drive reforms and foster real-time gap closing with a singular unity of purpose.
My profound gratitude goes to the Organising Committee, Resource Mobilisation Sub-Committee, donors, and well-wishers for a highly successful Presidential Fundraising Dinner Ball in Harare. Your support strengthens our organizational foundation.
Success is in the DNA of ZANU PF. Our responsibility does not end with passing resolutions. We must provide bold oversight to ensure full, impactful implementation guided strictly by our national interests as we march towards Vision 2030.

The gap between training and jobs was too wide to ignore. Young Africans struggled to turn education into decent work, while employers couldn't find the skills they needed. Africa Skills Week was created to align skills development with actual labour market and productive demands
It is a singular honour and privilege for Zimbabwe to host the official opening of the African Union Africa Skills Week 2026. On behalf of the Government and the people of Zimbabwe, I extend a warm, fraternal welcome to all African leaders, policymakers, captains of industry, academia, and our vibrant youth gathered here.
Our continent possesses the youngest population in the world, with over sixty percent under the age of thirty-five. This immense demographic potential must be converted into a competitive force through deliberate investments in relevant skills, work-based learning, and enterprise incubation.
The theme, "Skills for Resilient and Competitive African Industries: From Training to Value Creation," is a timely clarion call. We must aggressively transition away from a culture of mere theoretical education toward practical knowledge and technical capabilities.
In Zimbabwe ,our national development philosophy guides us: Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatigwa, nevene vayo / Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhu-le-ke-lwe ngabanikazi balo. This cardinal compass reinforces the absolute Pan-African truth that the primary responsibility for economic transformation rests firmly with the citizens of the nation. The development of our continent cannot be outsourced, nor can it rely on external formulas.
As we engage in high-level panels and the Skills Development Market-place this week, I challenge all delegates to deliver tangible, actionable results that advance "African solutions to African challenges." Let us collectively chart Africa’s development agenda with confidence, unity, and determination.
Africa Skills Week brings together policymakers, educators, industry representatives and other stakeholders to discuss strategies for strengthening skills development and linking education to industry needs.
The week-long event will also focus on youth and industrialisation, artificial intelligence and the skills revolution, private-sector and diaspora contributions to skills development, the green transition, and the shift from training to value creation.
This morning, at State House, I presided over the swearing-in of Senator Kudakwashe Regimond Tagwirei as the Minister of Economic Development and Investment Promotion, in line with Subsections 1 and 6 of Section 104 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
This follows our strategic decision to split the former Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion into two dedicated portfolios.
By creating two distinct ministries with clearly defined mandates and leadership, we are sharpening our focus on robust macroeconomic management while aggressively driving investment and industrial growth. Together, we continue to build a stronger, more resilient economy for all Zimbabweans.
