Maybe we’ve had acceptable offers and moved here on a market opportunity to replace & make a profit.🤔

I’d be happier with him taking his time.

If he genuinely wants out and isn’t going to be happy being pushed down the pecking order then we should take the money and replace with a more dynamic profile.

Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford etc have been incredibly well run but because of the PL money the ‘big’ clubs can’t push them around anymore once their players are PL proven.

The ‘big’ clubs need to accept the new reality and go straight to the source.

@Corballyred Curtis Jones would probably be against that idea given how much he backs himself and the wages he’s looking for.

He can just see out his contract, choose where he goes next year & pick up a nice wedge as a free agent signing fee.🤷‍♂️

@jamie_lfc1989 I was all for selling him last summer for the reasons you stated but things have changed.

We have a paper thin squad & can’t afford to replace everyone with elite options unfortunately.

We need squad players who can do a job, it’s not ideal but we have to cut our cloth atm.🤷‍♂️

Probably do a cheap rb like Geertruida, one midfielder and push Nyoni up the queue.

It’ll be half arsed and leave us short because that’s what they always do.🤷‍♂️

At least the new manager might use the squad/youth better though.

@jamie_lfc1989 Because he may be starting to realise that his lack of physical gifts have imposed a ceiling on him.

Playing >2000 minutes as a role player for his boyhood team and winning medals might be preferable to starting for a lower team.

Last season may have been the reality check.🤷‍♂️

He’ll leave on a free next year if we don’t sell now, we have literally zero leverage in these transfer negotiations.

That’s why you shouldn’t allow players to get into the last year of their contract.🤷‍♂️

No vertical passer and no defensive specialist who can block passing lanes win duels.

Trent masked the passing deficiencies when we won the league.

The minimum we need is either an elite vertical passer or a specialist cdm.

Having neither is negligent.
