This weekend my mom said she no longer recognized me as the woman she raised me to be. That’s probably true - I speak in church now and eschew patriarchy. Praying last night & lamenting God told me I’m becoming the daughter He raised me up to be. And that is no small thing.
@black_seattle One of the most freeing things in my adult life was absolving myself from trying to explain things to my mom. No explanation would ever be good enough. It wasn’t my job to make her understand my pov. She knew. She just didn’t want to accept.
@JaneLebak I think the dad who helped him get his license or my husband would be a good choice for that yes. Good idea. Could make it a fun outing with Bri too.
Brianna’s fella now has his license and a job and has looked at four used cars and his mother has said no every one. At some point he’s doing to realize he’s a full blown adult and go from “can I?” To “Mom, I bought myself a car” and I will be very happy.
I met the height requirement for a ride but I didn’t apparently meet the “not a string bean” requirement. Pre puberty. I was slipped between the over the head bars so I spent the whole ride gripping them like a koala, one shoulder out, butt no longer touching the seat.
I halfway fell out of one once. The bar that went across us/held us in chunked forward a little and I had to bear hug it until the ride was over. When the dude at the end was pulling some lever that released everyone else’s bar, he got to mine and looked concerned and just pushed on it a little (the bar, not the lever) and it fell the rest of the way forward.
When I got out, he put an out of order sign where I had been sitting.
I already hated roller coasters lol but after that I decided not to be peer pressured into riding them anymore.
He was 18 when he got his drivers license. Mom was too busy for well over a year. Finally one of the other dads took him to the dmv “to take a practice test” and he just paid for him to get his license.

Brianna has friends who are married. She has friends still living at home with doors in their bedrooms even though they now pay rent. The spectrum is insane.
The Homeschool’s fundie world is a strange strange place. On one had we are collectively totally fine with 20 year olds getting married but on the other hand we want to utterly cripple our children when it comes to launching. Super weird sometimes.
