For 18 years, there was only one way to play Gears of War 2.
Buy an Xbox 360 or emulate one.
Not anymore.
A modder has released an unofficial native PC port of Gears of War 2 called Gears of War 2: Hollow.
And surprisingly, it doesn't require an Xbox 360 emulator.
Instead, it runs as a native PC application built from a previously leaked developer build.
That means no Xenia, no Xbox emulation layer, and potentially lower overhead.
The current release includes:
• The full story campaign
• All DLC maps
• Road to Ruin campaign
• Horde mode
• Save support
• Co-op support
The project was built by a single developer, xHeliosx.
Multiplayer and PvP haven't been fully tested yet, so expect bugs if you venture online.
It's another reminder that game preservation often comes from passionate fans willing to spend years keeping classic games alive.
Eighteen years later, one of Xbox 360's biggest exclusives has finally found its way to PC.
