The #Yankees under Brian Cashman have finally broken. Years of Aaron Judge historical seasons hid trash roster construction. That is now over. This franchise cannot continue with this General Manager.
The Yankees front office put their foot down last winter and insisted this team was good enough to run it back. For a few months it looked like they were right. That time has run out.
Sure, there's no Aaron Judge. But it's put up or shut up time. The fanbase will have a LOT of ammo to say "what the hell did you think would happen?" if this team fizzles out.
Cashman and co. can shut everyone up with a big deadline. We shouldn't put it past them- they've done it before. But the pressure is officially on, or they're gonna have to face the music in the form of a rabid fanbase that told them over and over again this team needed a shakeup- and right now is looking correct.
Update to the top 100 trade candidates, live and free at ESPN. Plenty of movement and new additions to the list, with Jung Hoo Lee and Casey Mize moving into the top 10. @kileymcd and I will update this a few more times before the Aug. 3 deadline: https://t.co/4DX6hlcWkx
The Padres are in a complete tailspin. Future looks bleak, falling out of the WC race. Do they entertain moving Mason Miller? Yankees had known interest last deadline. Could be something to monitor as we move closer to August 3rd.
Pittsburgh rookie shortstop Konnor Griffin has a torn tendon in his left ring finger, sources tell ESPN. While Griffin could play through it, rehab is the likeliest option and would keep him out at least a month. Pirates already have Oneil Cruz and Spencer Horwitz on the IL.
Among the All-Stars, Luis Arraez is the most likely to be traded. Wacha and Chapman have a reasonable chance to be traded. Buxton, Ryan, Webb and Goodman all should probably be considered long shots to go for now
You think the Yankees could use another bat?
The Yankees have scored 3 or fewer runs in 11 of their past 17 games, and are 0-11 in those games.
They scored 4 and 5 runs in the other 6 games, and are 4-2.
Phillies could be a Skubal player. They are an aggressive shopper, and a 3rd top lefty (along with Sanchez sbd Luzardo) plus Wheeler would give them a shot vs. LA. The Yankees are looking at the starter market now but they may well aim lower so as they need pen help and a catcher
