@roguecaliber I actually did last Friday. I put "The Unicorn" on my encounter table for the forest and it was rolled. One of the PCs qualified as a "Pure Maiden" and got to communicate with it. I used it as an opportunity to inform the PCs of a potential adventure in the area.

@EricDiaz_RPG You should try GURPS.
Generally the rules tend towards a more simulationist approach. One good hit is typically all it takes to decide a fight.

I don't have enough text to get into it here, but it's my favorite system and does a good job of simulating a more realistic fight.

I know there are a lot of content creators who are fans of #pathfinder2e. I've run #pf2e but I have somewhat mixed feelings on it.

@EricDiaz_RPG I might have Death occur at HP = (Level * -1), instead of at 0.
Or maybe you could tie it to their Death Save value somehow, with better Death Save classes having more negative HP.
Or I might instead steal the Mortally Wounded/Fragile conditions from World's Without Number.

@EricDiaz_RPG I'm running my first OSR games right now, and for now I'm running by the book, but when I start house-ruling, negHP is something I'm likely to come back to.
I don't mind the lethality of Dead at 0HP, but the lack of a state for "injured but not yet dead" harms my verisimilitude.
