We raise domesticated animals, make our own clothes, cook our food, build transportation and shelter. How odd we humans are. What caused us to become this? It's fascinating, really.
@TheSkepticWiz@Tsar_Martyr I am an atheist. Yes Dahmer did wrong. He violated the peace and safety of a community and murdered citizens. We humans decide what we will tolerate in our communities. Serial murder and cannibalism can't be tolerated.
@AtheistPhoenix Stay away from this guy who believes nobody is a good person. He accepted he is bad, there's no telling what this guy might do.๐ณ We act from our beliefs.
@AtheistPhoenix That's the problem with beliefs. Anyone who has a different one is stupid, deluded, misled, gullible, etc... It's a failing we all have to some extent. We are all wrong and blind in one way or another.
Does walking under a ceiling that collapses on you mean you have no free will? If you saw it could collapse and you walked under it anyway, and it does, your free will wasn't violated. You exercised free will choosing to walk there. It's pretty basic.
I love the Internet because I have access to the scientific research I wouldn't otherwise have. I also have access to so many wonderful opposing points of view.
@luisbaram I do believe in science. I love how it changes according to the evidence and I love the cutting edge theories like Chaos Theory and Unified Field Theory. It's fascinating. I think we are on the edge of a big change in astronomy because of those ancient galaxies.
What really got me into science was the film What the Bleep Do We Know?. I knew it was biased when I watched so I started researching real science to see what they were talking about. The real thing is a lot stranger and harder to understand.
If there were an intelligent designer through nature, evolution and the known universe it certainly wouldn't be the Christian God. That's why I looked seriously at it. I don't believe in it because there's just too much evidence against a consciousness at work.
I wonder sometimes if I chose science over religion because it's more interesting and fun. Science encourages questions and thought, the other values faith and belief.
@luisbaram That is what atheism means. What evidence we choose along side atheism, is exactly that- along side. There are so many different theories within science to choose from. I love Quantum Field Theory for what it proposes.
I caught myself saying, โI just donโt get why they would do that.โ But now Iโm grateful that I donโt get it. Not understanding means my heart isnโt built that way, and thatโs something to be thankful for.
