Something maybe VTubers don't wanna hear, but should
Coming from the "Flesh" side of streaming a lot of people think VTubers are jokes. I'm just relaying the sentiment from my friends and creators I've known and even companies who spend millions + on sponsoring creators.
There's so much sexualization, google docs, drama, view botting, "I'm not a bottom hehe :3" "I'm not stinky!!" drama baiting, nonstop fighting, one of the most split "communities" I've ever seen. Extremely childish and judgemental. It's an extreme brand risk.
VShojo literally gets exposed for having their CEO seemingly siphoning money from people, stealing from charity, the biggest streamers all do cordinated google docs. Outside people see these moments, or the Burnt Peanut drama now since it's going "viral" and only see the bad. The Sinder drama had tens of millions of views and same with VShojo. This is what "normal" people see and take apart of from Vtubing.
I've spoken with companies and agencies that sponsor streamers, and they chose specifically not to work with VTubers due to these stigmas and poor public relations. Many normal streamers avoid VTubers due to these and many more problems. They see VTubers as a liabilities and a lack of connection as well, due to minimal real life connections with audiences. (I am not saying I agree with these takes, I am explaining from real companies and outside partners think about the "community".)
While I personally do not mind sex work, uwu weeb culture, and like the medium so many things are blaringly wrong and people don't like to realize that it's not something that most normal people find acceptable, or new people want to join in on, or that companies find ok. There's a reason why I've taken so long and wanted to soak in everything before fully committing to make sure I knew what I was getting into.
Have fun with it, enjoy the medium, I'm not here to stop anyone but unless a lot of streamers shape up people will always think VTubes are laughing stocks in the streaming community. It's just the 4Chan of streaming for a lot of people. It's just reality.
I'm sure I'd see some stupid responses to this so disclaimer:
1) I wanna be a VTuber, I like the medium
2) Have been a weeb since a kid
3) Been on Twitch before you knew what it was (but actually lol) and many VTubers don't even care about Twitch culture in the first place, only Vtubing culture o "idol" culture. Gotta understand it all if you're on the website. Don't have to "force" it though.
4) I have talked to so many partnered friends about this especially as I've planned my debut and asked for feedback and many hae mirrored these sentiments
5) Don't hate sex work I don't legit care just saying it does play apart when it comes to legit companies, sponsors, etc. Harder to work with Samsung and Walmart when you have ginormous anime milkers
6) So many big VTubers view bot so you're all falling for fake "idols" anyway
7) women streamers share these sentiments towards Vtubers, so not some werid sexist rant or w/e.
Moral of this: There's a reason why companies and the general public don't want to associate with many VTubers
Le vtubing EN qui se retourne contre Ironmouse car elle a félicité peanuts non vraiment cette communauté est malade et c’est exactement pour ce genre de raison que certains utilisent des avatars mais ne veulent pas être rattaché à la communauté
