With mixed emotions, today is my last day w @CSBA_Now - it’s been a pleasure working with all of you. Before I go - a reminder that schools were tragically underfunded before this crisis. We need major school investments soon - our kids cannot wait one more day. Keep it up!

Dr. Hill from @pacificoaks reminded the audience there has been a shift in classrooms from knowing children need to belong to achieve to needing to achieve to belong.
So excited to be @JohnMuirHS for a community conversation on the legacy of desegregation & creating a vision for true integration @PasadenaUnified. Also proud to be here as a trustee for @pacificoaks who is co hosting this event w PUSD Board Member Richardson-Bailey.
An important note from panelist Patrice McKenzie from @DrGeorgeMcKenna office - public education is a public good we all should invest and benefit from collectively, not simply an individual ladder to economic success for students.
Join Pacific Oaks student & Pasadena Unified School District board member, Michelle Richardson Bailey, and Elizabeth Chamberlain and Jerell Hill—from our School of Education tomorrow for a community panel examining issues facing Pasadena schools. https://t.co/hKyzlRDEe5
Will be very curious to see if PEI will ever be available to fund a broader range of clinical/direct services, which schools will tell you are still a huge need for which they receive little (Special Ed) to no (non SPED) funds for.
An important policy question for Sacto
Prevention & Early Intervention (PEI) #MHSA is where majority of funding available for community-school partnerships comes from. The proposed plan moves away from providing clinical services w this $ in agencies, and toward expand community based access, such as community schools
Interesting to hear the admission today that PEI (which was administratively challenged in funding a few intensive evidence based clinical practices w few clinicians trained) is now moving toward its intended goal of systems building.
Important headline for LA County’s #MHSA funds - a structural move away from slot-based services to team based model, with the goal of increasing overall number of clients.
