Some of Mel’s 8th grade accolades! Darn proud of her accomplishments this year. Through the high and lows of Middle School she has always shown up for herself and ready to reach for her dreams 🤎🧡
SHOCKING: A growing number of middle school athletes — mostly boys — are intentionally repeating 8th grade to delay their start in high school, giving themselves another full year to get bigger, stronger, and faster, which in turn dramatically boosts their chances at elite high school spots, college scholarships, and massive NIL deals potentially worth millions.
William La Jeunesse: “Of 8M high school students in sports only 7% will play in college.”
“On the other hand, the [likely] number one pick in this year’s NBA draft, [AJ Dybantsa], did 8th grade twice.”
CRAZY IDEA: How about we let more kids be kids!
OHSAA says issue 2B failed. It would have allowed students at a public school that does not sponsor a particular team sport to participate in that sport at another public school, provided schools were within 20 miles and the superintendents of both schools approved arrangement.

Dawn Staley on UCLA coach Cori Close: "Although we didn’t win, I can swallow it because we lost to a really good human being and a good team that represents women’s basketball well."
The conversation about the game last night should be focused on how well South Carolina played defense and drove the ball. Keeping UCONN to its lowest scoring game this season.
The number of girls playing high school basketball is a crisis no one is talking about.
Programs are drying up. Teams can barely fill their rosters.
We can't grow this game if we can't get kids to believe it's worth their time.
What are programs doing to fix this?
Dawn Staley was asked about the exchange with Geno Auriemma after today's game.
"I don't want what happened there to dampen what we were able to accomplish today."
