@William91691687 So true. And now we have a number of new staff entering the field who surprisingly are completely unaware of Fasd at all. Ie. new social worker working with mental health court who admittedly knew nothing and mixed up the acronym… she was embarrassed 😳 and eager to learn but…
I had a friendly reminder from a Military Veteran that I support of this inspiring sentiment yesterday. I shared it with him a few years ago and he spoke of how he reflects on it often. 🙏😊Thought I’d share. Have a wonderful long wknd everyone.
This is so true and we often do more harm than good. By ignoring the impacts of #PAE /hidden #FASD we focus too much on trauma, attachment and parenting issues (all important but not all) which often leads to shame, blame and families falling apart. We can do better.
@William91691687 Amazing. I want to learn more about who in terms of agencies and providers are adopting it… this is so hopeful and will benefit so many.
@byewig1921 Life is a series of learning opportunities… sounds like you’ve learned a lot. Trust this will take you closer to where you need to be. 🙏☀️💪
@MaggieMayFASD@FASDLondon I really appreciated hearing from you and the other #changemakers today. So powerful and clearly, conversations that need to continue …
Honoured to be a part of the @FASDLondon conference. It’s just begun and already I’m inspired and feeling hopeful. Thanks to Jackie Tenute and Tracy Grant for starting us off with a sense hope and opportunities. Dr. Jeffrey Wozniak shared some research Re: treatment. #LFASDC

He will be missed by so many. What a talent… So great to see his commitment to justice and building more opportunities for the people at #sixnationsofthegrandriver
@William91691687 Yes. Absolutely! But, we can’t deny people the support they need just because we can’t get confirmation… we can still dx a complex neurodevelopmental disorder and highlight the findings to make accommodations for the areas of challenge while nurturing strengths #hiddendisability
1/3 youth in youth justice were found to have Fasd. I am not surprised, but clearly we need to do things differently… from prevention, assessment and therapeutic supports and services for individuals and their families. #assessment#acomplicatedandbeautifulbrain
"We cannot jail children who have health, mental health and cognitive problems without understanding what their capacity is. This is a health problem. This is not a problem that should be punished.”
