@yanisvaroufakis 2) Condemnation of whole swathes of people in emotivist exchange of what is infantile Right & adolescent Left using condemnation to overpower in the name of ‘right’ can only perpetuate & consolidate sides. It can never result in self-actualised citizens making good judgments!
@yanisvaroufakis 1) There is only one solution to this nightmare ie that the disengaged +/or overwhelmed are coaxed into participation. That should be the sole focus. It’s not a distraction; it’s the only way that can be both effective and ethical.
NB I am not Muslim & condemn both the killing in Paris & the persecution of the teacher but this stance put on the program today is completely bigoted. And where was a Muslim voice btw?!!
@EricPickles@BBCWorldatOne#DameSarahKhan Extraordinary to listen again to the utterly twisted version of freedom of speech re the #charliehebdo matter. Freedom of Speech assumes mutual respect for fellow citizens. Without that as a precursor it becomes verbal abuse & bullying!
have to sit in class & swallow it….. when all of those things happen, it is a massive misinterpretation of freedom of speech!! John Stuart Mill would turn in his grave & label it an other-regarding action that limits others’ freedom & so falls beyond any right of expression!!!
@HouseofCommons trying to listen to The Budget on the radio but giving up thanks to the usual disgraceful behaviour of MPs. Wtf is wrong with our representatives? So utterly shameful! No other Parliament does this! #MPs
@RishiSunak 2/2 …you believe not acknowledging many 1000s of Jewish people supporting the Palestinian is acceptable? If you truly want to prevent emotivism on the streets you MUST begin by acknowledging both. If not, all you do is increase both anti-Semitism & Islamophobia.
@RishiSunak 1/2 You seriously believe it’s ok not to acknowledge the treatment of Palestinians since 1948, the subservient state they’re held in, the West Bank encroachment & numerous disproportionate acts by Israeli regimes as inevitably leading to the horrific day of 7th October? And …
MPs in uproar over a Speaker who’s behaved impeccably for 5 yrs before making a mistake he’s apologised for immediately, repeatedly & profusely? MPs who expect their mistakes to be washed over in perpetuity? Move on & get on with the job! @AaronBell4NUL #Speaker#HoC
The members of the House of Commons managed to turn the vitally important matter of a Ceasefire in Israel/Gaza, all about them, (reminiscent of the Brexit debates). Appalling!
@yanisvaroufakis 2/2 When is the Left going to realise that? If we called for facilitating the peace lovers & excluded all the warmongers then we’d have a chance of result! It does mean stopping armchair metaphorical warring ourselves though & considering ‘good’ action rather than ‘winning’!
@yanisvaroufakis 1/2 No we don’t need further proof but we do need a new politics to deal with it! You’re ignoring the Israeli people who’ve been trying so hard for building peace, instead of including them because you only think in terms of numbers & product true to liberal utilitarianism!….
@yanisvaroufakis 2/2 also demanding return of hostages & offering to protect vs further Hamas attacks. Anything else leaves Israeli citizens no support other than from Netanyahu!! The U.K. understood on this occasion by abstaining from a motion for that reason! No more tawdry male us/them please!
@yanisvaroufakis 1/2 Yes - absolutely true. So the wise response? Ensure ALL parties can feel safe to condemn Netanyahu, which includes the mass of Israeli citizens who are also vital for a peace settlement. Any decision that is democratic MUST include ALL parties affected! Here that means…
@BBC Why are you offering a high guzzling petrol car as a prize & saying ‘imagine driving this for the school run’? Utterly incredulous!
#BBCChildreninNeed
2/2 The evil of terrorism is an inevitable result & why many are not giving the equal support they should to terrified & innocent Israeli citizens
1/2 @Jacob_Rees_Mogg@bbcquestiontime you say nobody reacted as now when it was ISIS but underlying this is a deep sense of jaw-dropping injustice; the avoided root cause ie displacement, ghettoising & encroachment for 75 yrs….
