Thank you, Pastor @ronniefloyd Matt and I are tremendously grateful for the kind words and encouragement from you and Jeana. Thank you for your faithful leadership and investment in others.
Very excited and so thankful for these three @CrossChurchPH staff members who graduated from @SWBTS today: @AngelaKincade@MollieMollied & Micah Lynn. I am also grateful for each of their spouses who cheered them on: Jim, Matt, & Madison. Proud of all of you!
"He (Jesus) knew that the old eye-for-eye philosophy would leave everyone blind. He did not seek to overcome evil with evil. He overcame evil with good. Although crucified by hate, he responded with aggressive love" (MLK Jr., Baptist Preacher).
Nothing more important for a Christian to do than to read right through the whole Bible over and over and over, at the very least once a year. You have to keep checking and refining your beliefs by immersion in the Scripture.
The distinguishing mark of Jesus’ first followers was; they were undistinguished in every way. They were common folks, not orators or scholars, but became some of the most spellbinding speakers and best writers ever. It’s amazing what God does with ordinary yielded vessels.
“The best lives are riddled with ambiguities and lined with shadows. Each of them is a story about grace. To tell our own stories as stories about grace rather than stories about success or failure is to tell them more truly. That truth can set us free.”
~Marilyn McEntyre
True repentance entails knowing we cannot fix ourselves. It bows humbly before God, pleading for help. No boasting or mentioning merit, no bargaining with God or setting conditions. Repentance prays for grace at the beginning, middle, and end of our lives in Jesus’ presence.
During Bloody Queen Mary’s persecution, Ben Franklin’s great great grandfather kept his banned English Bible tied to the underside of a stool. The stool could be turned over to read the Bible, but then instantly hidden if need be. Old Ben came by his ingenuity naturally.
God’s Word reminds the church to “remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose” (Acts 11:23). Let’s seek to live more like Barnabas “full of the Holy Spirit and faith” (Acts 11:24). May our words bring encouragement, hope, and life to those around us.
“Build your faith, build your life, build your soul, build your hopes, build your destiny on the immutable, unchanging, inerrant Word of God. To receive God’s testimony is to receive God Himself. To love God’s Book is to love God Himself.”
