@fionathehardy Did she climb over or just straight out leap? The thing with bamboo is that it can make it easier to climb. You'd need something slippery to stop her climbing. Plexiglass is good - slippery, no way for them to find purchase. But if she's leaping over you'll need to think harder.
@AdelaideBook@WyndhamSusan Only problem with this tweet - I've been on an extended Twitter 'break', not debate. Still hate not having an edit button...
@AdelaideBook Well, I've just walked into this debate having been on an extended Twitter debate and I can't think of two more eminently qualified people to comment upon it. Thanks for your contributions @AdelaideBook & @WyndhamSusan 👏
@1KarenWyld@cubbieberry Have just arrived back on the Twits for the first time in MANY months & I have to say what a pleasure it is to be greeted almost immediately by your good, intelligent tweets 👏❤️
some people need to learn how to remove the White Lens before reading. Not only books but poems, reviews, op eds, papers. Some people are so used to whiteness being the default, they lack the skills to read work by non white writers. You want "diversity" but do you deserve it?
@alisoncroggon Agreed. If novelists have a duty of care then their reviews are compromised & they should not be working as critics. Good reviews & bad reviews have value IF they are CONSTRUCTIVE in their criticism & CONTRIBUTE to the critical discourse. Kindness cannot come into it.
The testimonies about pay in this (UK-based) piece are so depressingly familiar.
But it’s been good to see so much solid reporting on pay transparency from @thebookseller lately
Opened up Twitter for the first time in months to check out books Twitter just in time for #JKRowling 's latest BS 🙄 Ok guys, that's me done for another few months I guess...
