The Animal Welfare Act (AWA) is a federal law that is supposed to protect animals. However, the AWA only sets the most minimum standard. In fact, puppy mills are still technically legal. Support and call for a stricter, less lenient law!

Unadopted dogs and rescued mill dogs lead to dog overpopulation and overcrowded animal shelters. Each year, around 1.2 million dogs are euthanized to create more space. #39canimals

Retail pet sale bans have the potential to reduce the number of operating puppy mills. Instead of trying to locate and regulate every commercial breeding facility like the AWA, retail pet sale bans work directly to erase these commercial breeding facilities. #39canimals
