1/6 Twitter won’t let me reply to things until I say something here. So, I am aaaAAAaaa a host on the Great and Spacious podcast. A podcast where we read through the BOM and research the actual history of the church. And, to be honest, it is damning.
This week on a very mildly Christmas themed episode we talk about Satan and his power over the water, where the idea of Satan comes from, how it is firmly only Mormon lore that he was Jesus’s brother, and how he bares a small resemblance to Santa.

This week we drink a mimosa for Jesus, dissect D&C 58, talk about the marriage of the lamb (which honestly was overshadowed by more interesting tangents), & Abigail finishes her spiritualism series by telling us how Houdini came to debunk spiritualists.

This week: D&C 53-55 where god/JS hands out callings🤮, we talk to former Methodist Joel who teaches that religious trauma isn’t exclusive to exmos, & Abigail talks about Helena Blavatsky, another 1800s spiritualist proving again that JS wasn’t special.

In today’s episode “Melt-in-your-Mouth Mercy” we cover D&C 51-52, do a lesson on tithing with a Sunday school prop tithing wheel, and dive even deeper into spiritualism.
You don’t wanna miss this…

It’s pretty weird to me that the people that are supposed to “put off the natural man” and are taught that “the natural man is the enemy of god” voted for the embodiment of the natural man.
Lamenting over the election results? Us too. So, we just got super trashed and talked about it and then also tried to distract ourselves from it for this weeks episode.
If you want someone to grieve with feel free to join us.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the American people’s obsession with electing rich people to run the country stems from the prosperity doctrine. The hold that religion has on this country is truly depressing.
What happens when you create a religion that lets people think they can talk to spirits, then you send missionaries all over to convert people, and leave them with no direction?
D&C 50 happens.
This weeks episode discusses spiritualism and Mormonism.

Hey Mormons, I know that you get defensive about being called a cult and don’t believe you are part of one.
The thing is, that people in a cult often have no idea that they’re in a cult, but it can be obvious to the ones around them. To those around you, it’s obvious you are.
Hey Mormon peeps, question for you.
In D&C, Jesus repeatedly says he comes quickly, but he actually doesn’t ever. My take is that Joseph Smith was just scaring people to obey him.
What’s your explanation? Or do you think Jesus was just referring to his premature ejaculations?
In D&C 49 Joseph Smith received “revelation” about the Shakers and that their beliefs were wrong, and then his lackeys had the audacity to read it directly to them.
In this week’s episode we talk about this, who the shakers are, and discuss Gen Con.

My god you guys, our podcast is going through D&C, and I gotta be honest. I kinda miss the Book of Mormon. You think that book is bad? D&C is literally just JS being petty and having someone write it down.
