@baseballcrank And of course, the plan to "get" Trump wasn't supposed to launch until during the GOP primary. As we all said, they would indict him in Summer 2023 (they did) and then get a conviction by Summer 2024 (after the convention).

@dilanesper @jadler1969 If that terminated US Attorney from Washington tries to go to SCOTUS, he'll be given the Rebecca Slaughter treatment rather than the Lisa Cook. Why? Because he's not Constitutionally or statutorally independent from the President's discretion.

@dilanesper @jadler1969 But Congress *didn't* make him one. That's why the President can appoint and terminate any US Attorney. Ship's point was more about partisan politics (Senate Dems not returning blue slips and Dem Courts refusing any negotiations with the DOJ) than Constitutional claims.
