IWD on March 8 - a day to celebrate accomplishments in gender equality.
"Violence against women, including femicide, is a global emergency. Around 50,000 women and girls worldwide were killed in 2024, most by family members," Volker Turk told UN in Geneva last month.
Gender equality cannot be achieved in this environment - it is being eroded.
That's why #Canada needs to #CallItFemicide.

147 women and girls killed in 2025 will not celebrate IWD2026👇
In 2025, the number of women & girls killed in Canada has almost returned to pre-COVID levels.
That is good news...
...but that remains a low bar for success.
We have still lost 147 women & girls, killed mostly by men (90%).
