@heiscephas10@gfy_26 The standard of morality in atheism is human empathy and reducing suffering. Good actions protect and help humans thrive. Bad actions cause harm and destruction. We judge morality by how our actions actually affect living people, not by divine commands
@heiscephas10@gfy_26 It is objective, and it is based on human well-being and flourishing. Just like poison objectively harms a body, murder and theft objectively harm a society. We don’t need God to know that cooperation works better than chaos.
@heiscephas10@gfy_26 That’s a false comparison. God and law are not the same thing. A society definitely needs laws to function, but those laws are made by humans to protect each other. We can easily get rid of religion and still keep our courts, constitutions, and morals completely intact
