Donald Newhouse was one of the finest, kindest, and most decent people I have ever had the privilege to know.
At a time when local news has been battered, hollowed out, and too often left behind, Don’s lifelong devotion to serious, community-rooted journalism stands as both a legacy and a lesson. That legacy lives on through the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, where generations of reporters found their calling and carried it into newsrooms across America.
My heart is with his family, his friends, and all who loved him. May his legacy live on in every newsroom strengthened by his life’s work, and may his memory, like his friendship, be a blessing.
Don Newhouse knew how things worked, and if they didn’t work— he’d have an idea! Grateful for our lunches, chats, and his fervor for life. I love to learn from people, and Don Newhouse always endeavored to teach— an honorable man, a great American, and a friend to New York
Really great layout in print — one thing is abundantly clear (and the New York Post understands this better than any pub)…
Local news sells (and btw it matters)
The Post will do well in CA (which has largely been a coverage desert until east coast news brands noticed)
NEW: I wrote about the California Post, a well-funded push by the Murdochs to cement The New York Post as a national media brand at a time when other outlets are shrinking or shuttering. The new LA-based paper already has a newsroom of more than 80 people https://t.co/bbVg9O3In4
Let’s be clear: Hamas is a terrorist organization committed to the destruction of Jews while imposing its brutal rule on Palestinians.
Chanting support for Hamas is antisemitic and unacceptable. This hate must have no place in NYC, in the U.S. or around the world, and must be loudly condemned.
Schumer on the Senate floor:
“In the coming days I will work to grow support for my resolution, so the Senate can take a clear stand against hatred and antisemitism.
“I hope my Republican colleagues will join me in this effort and cosponsor this resolution.”
On today’s news….
I have never met anyone quite like Nancy Pelosi, and I never will again.
The times I’ve worked with her, and heard her talk/interact with Chuck are core memories I will never forget. The two of them are amongst the greats.
Today on the Senate floor, I led a moment of silence to remember 9/11, those who were taken from us that day, those who have died in the years since, their families, the first responders who ran headfirst into danger for their fellow Americans.
We must never forget.
We must renew our commitment to the heroes and first responders who were exposed to deadly toxins because of 9/11.
I have fought to secure nearly $1.7 billion for the World Trade Center Health Program, to help sick first responders get the care they need.
The best way to “never forget” our brave first responders is to is ensure the World Trade Center Health Program is:
FULLY FUNDED.
FULLY STAFFED.
FULLY OPERATIONAL.
Chuck at the Labor Day parade for hours. The usual.
But my actual nod here is to shout out the nyc assignment desk editors who move the amazing camera folks and the tv trucks. That’s all LABOR, too!
General advice: If you ping me w q’s about any book, I am going to ask if you have read said book. We will discuss your findings. People who ask q’s about books they have not read are not firm footed to ask any q’s. Be well read.
*audio books are also fine
At what point will we as medical physicians, medical schools, medical organizations take a unifying stance against Sec Kennedy repeatedly making these ridiculously, inflammatory, & inaccurate statements?

Just sayin’, I have long said that LA needs a tabloid. The @nypost is doing some of New York’s best local journalism.
My lips. God’s ears. You see how that works!
Senate Dem leader Schumer met with the parents of American hostage Itay Chen.
According of his office, Schumer “discussed the urgent need to achieve a lasting deal to bring Itay Chen and Omer Neutra .. and all of the remaining hostages home.”
