Hope cannot be bounded by nomenclature. Call it whatever you want (democracy, military-cracy, etc), people want HOPE. And if politicians fade, with poor leadership, and men on khakis present even an illusion to hope, they have FANS.

ECOWAS will not just be fighting soldiers if they decide to attack the juntas of coups, they will be fighting that aspiration of HOPE in these West African countries. And because most ECOWAS big nations have not offered those HOPEs at home, they must be careful going against these citizens.

We all want democracy but most of our downtrodden citizens want HOPE. That HOPE with opportunity wins hearts and communities. Please no war in ECOWAS.

Many criticise the weapons and gun show at the Russia-Africa summits. However, they prove that of all these summits that corral African big men in foreign capitals - the US-Africa Summit, the Forum on Africa-China Cooperation, the Tokyo International Conference on African Development, the India-Africa Forum Summit, the European Union–African Union Summit, and more - the Russians understand African power men best. They know that, after you strip away the fine suits, the sweet talk about development partnerships, a just world economic order, blah blah, what most (not all) African leaders REALLY want are blunt instruments to beat/shoot down their people into submission and blow up the opposition, so they can continue to loot at home and rule for life, without much threat. Putin is helped by the fact that his domestic approach is little different, so he brings a level of personal direct experience in this competition for the hearts of African strongmen that many of his rivals don't have. He puts the guns out in the open (not in some backroom out of sight), where the tough men and women can touch them, be photographed with them for their personal and private social media pages, and project power. And, my, talk of product differentiation!

RSF is built for urban warfare. The Sudanese army less so. The spectacle of two conventional armies fighting with heavy weapons in cities is horrible to contemplate.
