Proud Alberta Rockies/prairie/forest girl fighting for AB Independence. Lived in many places but always Alberta Bound. Block those who can’t converse decently.
Last night we had another great meeting in Southwestern Alberta. Same results as always, our ladies walk away w/ an understanding of what the problem is & what the solution will be. More meeting dates & locations to be announced tomorrow!
Took a little jaunt out to the park tonight. I’ve never seen this level of flow at Cameron Falls before! And of course we were graced with fuzzy-wuzzy here!

@DarrellSto67629 I wish. Instead I run a BnB out of this place so I can afford to live here and spend most of my days cleaning and making beds 😀But we don’t mind sharing this beautiful place.
The rain has stopped.
The clouds have lifted.
The birds are out.
The mountains have fresh snow.
Beautiful, blessed Alberta!

I spent some time last Dec thinking about an Independent Alberta Military in terms of what it should have and how it should be structured. I did a very rough costing of it too.
I'm not at all sure where the UCP Gov is getting their numbers, but they are not credible to me.
There are approximately 5.05M people living in AB and Ottawa raises roughly $89 billion per year in federal revenue from Alberta.
Ontario is approximately 3.2 times Alberta’s population.
Quebec is approximately 1.8 times Alberta’s population.
Ontario and Quebec combined is approximately 5 times Alberta’s population.
Quebec receives approximately 51% of the entire equalization program, so it also receives approximately half of the equalization funding notionally attributable to Alberta taxpayers.
For the equalization comparison, Quebec has approximately 4 million more people than Alberta and receives $13.9 billion in equalization for 2026–27. Ontario has approximately 11.1 million more people than Alberta but receives only $406 million because the equalization formula is based on provincial fiscal capacity, not population alone.
What could AB do with $89B/year if they didn't send it to Ottawa?
Much of what she says will be start up costs already exists. We will just be taking it over ourselves. But let's just play with the Premier's numbers for a minute.
You are 30 years old. Currently you pay on average roughly $5,000/year more for government services than you receive. That adds up to $175,000 in overpayment over your working years. You can also look forward to paying more income tax as you continue to do better for yourself and your family.
Someone comes to you and says, "Hey, for a one time investment of $80,000 you'll be a founding member of a new country that will enjoy a much lower tax burden, higher standard of living, and no more being ruled by elites 1,000's of kms away. A realized savings of $95,000 not to mention free from the mess you are forced to support now."
Not a bad deal. I would take it🤷♀️
