Chapman's Ice Cream has just done something EVERY Canadian should know.
The largest ice cream company in Canada used to source fruit and nuts from American suppliers — for some, for over 30 years. Then, Trump imposed a 25% tariff on Canadian products.
So, what did Chapman's do?
📷 They called Italy.
📷 They called Spain.
📷 They signed multi-year contracts with European suppliers.
And the vice president said it perfectly:
"Even if Trump wakes up smarter than yesterday, we're about to sign long-term deals with other countries — and the American companies that supply them will have nothing but their eyes to cry for."
Oh, and on top of ALL that? They're COLDing their prices so that the average Canadian doesn't have to spend a single cent more.
It's a family business. No shareholders. Just the Chapman family saying: "The least we can do is make sure Canadians still have the means to buy ice cream."
That's what Canadian pride looks like.
Next time you're at the grocery store — grab some Chapman's.

We have 15,430 beekeepers in Canada. We export about $60 million of honey a year, $40 million of that to the USA. That honey now has a 50% tariff and our farmers are going to have a tough time selling it.

Canada imports a lot of honey, about $73 million of it. Some of it isn’t even real honey (seriously it’s faked with rice and cane syrups eww).

Check the labels. As a country we are spending $73 million on imported honey and looking at loosing $40 million in exported honey to the USA. It’s kinda simple math. Buy Canadian honey.

This trade war should jolt us out of our reliance on volatile fossil fuels and accelerate our transition to clean, secure and reliable energy.

Last year, China and India installed so much solar power that it exceeded all new demand for the first time: in other words, fossil fuel use has stopped growing for the two biggest populations on earth.

This year, the IEA predicts that global investments in renewables will hit $2.2 trillion. Twice as much as fossil fuels.

The global economy is in the midst of a renewable energy revolution and here in Canada we are buying a new pipeline for an industry making record profits.

Make it make sense.

The only energy sovereignty lies in clean energy: no war can cut off supply, no bully can threaten or tariff it, the inputs are free forever.

Canada, let’s get to work building true energy independence.

The sheer number of lies from President Trump about Canada – growing again today – is remarkable. Just some fact checks from the last 18 months:
- Trump falsely said today that Canada's unemployment rate is "10% and rapidly rising,” though it is 6.4% (under the Canadian method that adds about a percentage point) and has been declining for three months
- Trump falsely said today that Canada does 95% of its business with the US, though 72% of Canadian exports went to the US last year
- Trump falsely said today that high Canadian agricultural tariffs have caused the entire US trade deficit with Canada, though that deficit is overwhelmingly caused by US imports of cheap Canadian crude and though something like 97% of US ag exports to Canada are tariff-free
- Trump has falsely said Canada generally doesn’t “take” US agricultural exports, though Canada is the world’s second-biggest buyer of those exports
- Trump has falsely said the Canadian public likes the idea of becoming the 51st state, which the Canadian public overwhelmingly opposes
- Trump has falsely said Canada is one of the world’s highest-tariff countries, though it is actually low in WTO global rankings
- Trump has falsely said Canada essentially doesn't have a military, though its military has fought with the US in multiple wars and its force size ranks in the upper half of NATO
- Trump has falsely said Canada hiked its dairy tariffs during the Biden administration, though they hadn’t changed since Trump’s first presidency
- Trump has falsely said the US trade deficit with Canada is “$200 billion,” though it is nowhere close
- Trump has falsely said Canada prohibits US banks, though it doesn't and though more than a dozen US banks were operating in Canada at the time he spoke
- Trump has falsely said Canada is “constantly surrounded” by Chinese and Russian ships, though that is fiction
- Trump has falsely said then-outgoing PM Trudeau was using their trade battle to run again for prime minister, though Trudeau obviously wasn’t running

Ontario's housing starts are looking (slightly) better than 2025 -- but likely not enough to meet the province's 1.5million homes market.

NOAA launches the weather balloons, floats the ocean buoys, flies the satellites, and staffs the forecasters that tell us when storms are coming. That data supports about two-thirds of the economy, roughly $1.3 trillion a year, and it paid us back $73 for every dollar we spent on it.

DOGE took a chainsaw to it anyway.

They cut 2,500 people.

They pushed out 27,000 years of experience in just a few months.

Now a charter fishing captain in Homer, Alaska has spent half a season with no idea what the wind is doing in waters he fishes every day. Kansas got hit by two tornadoes nobody saw coming. Forecasters missed how strong a typhoon was as it headed for Alaska. Farmers, insurers, airlines, and city engineers are all working with worse information than they had two years ago.

And now the Trump administration plan is to cut even deeper.

They want to pull another $1.6 billion out of NOAA next year. They want to hand the rest to private companies, so your town ends up paying a business for weather data your taxes already paid for, with no promise it will even be right.

Hahaha. I just went to grab a coffee and stopped to ask a bunch of people struggling with addiction in the Granville area this:
“If you could go to recovery treatment for a year, receive $1,000 a month, and when you finished have guaranteed housing, access to employment and counselling, would you go?”

Every single one of them said they’d go.

One guy looked at me and said:
“You mean like a recovery house?”
Me: “Yeah.”
“Are they actually going to do that? HELL YEAH I’D GO.”

Maybe instead of constantly asking how we can FORCE people into recovery, we should start asking:
What would make people WANT recovery and give them a real chance to succeed afterward?

Housing, income, employment, counselling and community.
That’s recovery capital!
