GOFUNDME UPDATE: In the lead up to Karmelo Anthony’s trial, an influx of donations to his “Help fund” have been pouring in.

His campaign funds have risen by a couple thousand dollars in the last few days, with people donating every few hours.

The GofundMe, which was originally set at $350,000, quickly surpassed the original goal, raising over half a million dollars.

The family has since raised the goal multiple times and the new goal is now sitting at $1.3 MILLION, with over $614,000 of donations received.

Back in April of 2025, Karmelo Anthony fatally stabbed Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet and the family quickly started the GofundMe, which they have since used for “counseling”, “legal defense” and “everyday expenses”.

Karmelo Anthony’s attorney Mike Howard (pictured below) keeps repeating to potential jurors that under Texas law, it’s not illegal to have a knife under five and a half inches in a public place. Anthony was armed with a knife the day he killed Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet.

HOWEVER, Karmelo Anthony was not in a public place. The fatal stabbing happened on Frisco ISD property. School-sponsored events are classified as prohibited places for weapons, not public spaces.
