Just because you are looking in the same direction doesn’t mean you are going in the same direction in influencing your family.

Don’t make assumptions that everything is good. Assumptions will wake you up down the road with a heaviness of regret.

It takes proactive thoughtfulness to navigate your decisions that influence your family legacy and the Christian norms in society will most likely fail your family.

I promise you this; you will let people down when you make the best decisions for your family.

You have to be willing to do what’s hard, go against the grain, and lead your family.

You have to BE RESOLUTE! Which means admirably purposeful, steadfast and unwavering.

Get together with your bride and ask these 3 tough questions:

“How is our family really doing?”

“How are you doing?”

“How can I improve…?”

If you do that, know you are of the few. But it takes doing what others aren’t willing to to experience fruit in your family most never see.

So much of society separates children by age; whether church programs, school, sports…

It’s no wonder children start to prefer only spending time with people their age or older, they’ve been taught unintentionally that this is the way to be.

While some things like organized sports make sense, be careful, because before you know it they will often become hardened towards their siblings.

We have experienced so much bonding amongst our children of all ages, but it’s not an accident; we bucked the system and kept them all together as much as possible.

In our home, if Tolpin’s aren’t right with each other, then there’s no point in spending time with others until we are.

Strong sibling relationships are vital, it’s not easy but it’s worthy.

Fight hard for this, but it will have to include saying no to good things and finding other things they can all do together at times.

It will also take consistent intentional effort to go against the grain of society and impress upon them the value of all ages.

The world has dramatically changed. We encourage parents to rethink about any situations where they are without their children.

This has nothing to do with fear, we must walk in wisdom about who we allow to influence or be with our children without us.

There is a drought in biblical conviction in society today.

Does this mean that children are being influenced away from biblical truth in the middle school years and then swaying their parents away from biblical truth on societies hot button issues?

Or perhaps it means that the children didn’t stand firm in the faith against peer influences because their parents didn’t disciple their children, and that weakness continues allowing the children to sway the parents?

BARNA studies show that only 4% of adults in America hold a biblical worldview and that drops to 2% of adults who also have pre-teens.
