@benjamindcrosby My sacramental theology prof at a RC college said he preferred 'presbyter' because that is the appropriate translation of the term 'elder' in the NT, not priest.
@StuVirginia The Anglican Church of Canada observes Oct 31st as saints of the reformation era, our modern book of saints treats the day as a day to remember both catholic and reformed saints.
@TheModernist_CA I think Tillich would say that most of our liturgical language would qualify as mythical language, not in the sense that it is false, but in the sense that it is limited in grasping the true mysteries of our faith.
@nic_lucc Last Sunday after Epiphany, the Feast of the Transfiguration is on August 6th.
Though I prefer the "Sunday next before Lent." Or let's bring back Quinquagesima
@charliebelllive Father Charlie, from a queer priest in Canada, I am so sorry about what the Church is putting you and all our queer siblings through in the CofE. Jesus weeps with you, and is with you, always.
@MapleAnglican Slight difference between TEC and ACC, TEC calls today the Holy Name of Jesus, whereas ACC calls it the Naming of Jesus. I believe under the Canadian BCP, there was a minor feast of the Holy Name that was separate from the Circumcision, TEC appears to have conflated the two
@benjamindcrosby My home parish in Victoria, the Cathedral used to do a watchnight service at 11 pm on NYE. When I attended, it was actually very well attended and had a lot of young families who were looking for a NYE activity that was spiritual.
Christmas is not a Western story – it is a Palestinian one.
"This Christmas, our invitation to the global church — and to Western Christians in particular — is to remember where the story began. To remember that Bethlehem is not a myth but a place where people still live. If the Christian world is to honour the meaning of Christmas, it must turn its gaze to Bethlehem — not the imagined one, but the real one, a town whose people today still cry out for justice, dignity and peace."

@benjamindcrosby The reason I heard re: the defects of the daily office in the BAS is the BAS framers assumed that the BCP would be the norm for public celebrations of the Office so the BAS daily office is designed for personal devotion in that people can figure it on their own.

@benjamindcrosby IC and BA i consider to be where faithful Anglicans can disagree, QofH is actually where I have difficulty, can that be reconciled with Mary's proclamation of herself as a servant of the Lord?
