Since I've gotten a lot of followers recently, a little about me. I'm 37 and I'm from central-east Texas. Living in south Texas now. I'm married with 3 kids. I'm a veteran (US Army). I'm a Baptist and will be attending Seminary in August. I've been all over the US. Huge gun-nut.
@LionoftheNorth@WillyRice While you wait for an answer to your frivolous, baiting question, you can check out 1 Timothy 2:12 and 1 Corinthians 14:34-35. While you're in Timothy you can check out the qualifications for elder/pastor and also jump over to Titus to see the same qualifications stated again.
@914Ann@JennMGreenberg@Fair_and_Biased@x_mtp1 We're going to keep arguing in circles. Co-Laborers does not automatically mean elder/pastor. Many women rightfully engaged in leading women's ministries can be called a co-laborer in the Gospel. Thank you for this exchange of ideas, my sister in Christ ๐. God be with you.
@914Ann@JennMGreenberg@Fair_and_Biased@x_mtp1 She may have been a great asset to the church, as we all should be, but this argument is very flimsy. Paul is also the one that gave us clear instructions that women can't be in a position of authority over a man, is Paul being duplicitous in scripture?
@914Ann@JennMGreenberg@Fair_and_Biased@x_mtp1 So if a Pastor refers to a deacon or a secretary or a janitor as "his co-worker" that automatically means they're a leader of the congregation akin to his position? If she was the head pastor/elder Paul would surely have called her such.
@mercymaxxing@JennMGreenberg@Fair_and_Biased@x_mtp1 The authority of Women in the OT holds no relevance to the issues of Pastors in the church. New Testament clearly shows a new model or framework for The Church. I have no qualms re: Women leading women. I've met fantastic women teachers, but the Bible is clear. 1 Tim 2:11-14.
@914Ann@JennMGreenberg@Fair_and_Biased@x_mtp1 Priscilla never taught in the synagogue or acted as a leader of an entire congregation. Read through Acts 18:26 again, "When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him *to their home* and explained to him the way of God more adequately."
@JennMGreenberg@Fair_and_Biased@x_mtp1 No one is arguing that Women can't lead Women's ministries. The argument is about Women leading the congregation as a whole and having authority over men, which was expressly forbidden in The New Testament.
@x_mtp1@JennMGreenberg I suggest you take a read through of Titus and Timothy, look at the qualifications for elders and deacons. "Husband of one wife" is pretty clear to me. Submit to The Word of God.
@nagoyan2gou I wouldn't mind if God led me to pastor a church in Japan, but I would leave when my mission was over. I'll die and be buried in Texas, or have my ashes spread in the Navasota River.
@desuwa_desuwa It was definitely a high-stakes situation. The guy next to us caught 2 fish while we were there. I absolutely had to catch something so little girl knew I could ๐๐.
Took my eldest daughter fishing today. I caught a small catfish, she caught a couple branches ๐. I'm just glad I caught a catfish so she doesn't think her Dad doesn't know what he's doing ๐ .
