Totally agree @Shubhanna we are coming up to National Carers Week highlighting the importance of unpaid carers being 'Visible and Valued'- the inequalities and myths about being an un/c is a constant source of anger - this seems a good place for our new ministers to start?
Figs released this week show that in Nov 2020 only 82,311 out of an estimated 1.1 million unpaid carers in Scotland were in receipt of Carers Allowance.
The majority of unpaid carers are not eligible for any carers allowance, and it's time we stopped ignoring this.
Congratulations to @HumzaYousaf on his appointment as Cab. Sec. for Health & Social Care and @ShonaRobison on her appointment as Cab. Sec. with responsibility for social security. We look forward to working with you in delivering greater support for Scotland's 1M #unpaidcarers
