@AmyDickman4@domdyer70 Let the digging begin, so much campaigning so much money raised. Apart from being directed against science and African voices nothing to show where it matters on the ground.
@MFMRNamibia next year let's go together with @NNF_Namibia supporting community fisheries and marine conservation. @FinanceNamibia needs to allocate more resources for MFMR to fulfill it's critical marine resources mandate to underpin the #BlueEconomy
The Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Hon. Derek Klazen is presenting the Ministerial vote and budget today at Parliament. The Ministry is having an information stall at the Parliament’s courtyard to give information about our services and to support our Minister.
@SethHorstmeyer @BlueActionFund @HeikeHenn1@KfW_FZ_int Oceans5 has been absolutely instrumental in helping us get to this point and an important cofunder and partner going forward, thank you @SethHorstmeyer and Justine for all your help 🌊
The @BlueActionFund team of @OceanKnigge @OceanWeigand @OceanThayne really do rock. Thank you to DHPS for allowing us to borrow the bear, now all BAF need to do is find a Kudu or Orxy in Berlin 😉🌊
Great thread worth reading to fully understand why people who have spent the majority of their lives studying and protecting Wildlife believe a ban would be devastating for that wildlife and the eco systems around them.
🧵#StandWithKavango Today activists & outraged Kavango community members gathered outside the High Court in Windhoek to protest against crippling government legal fees in excess of NAD 520000 ($28800).
All they've done is try to protect their land and homes from drilling & exploration by #ReconAfrica. We appeal to have these fees waived. Communities should not be punished for protecting what is rightfully theirs from neo-colonialist oil & gas drillers & their government allies.
#ReconAfrica tried everything to silence them. The Canadians spied on their communications, had police illegally detain them, refused them access to public meetings and tried to buy them off. None of it worked. Now they are going after the conservancies. Time to stop Recon's con.
The Communities from Kavango East have challenged #ReconAfrica in court and lost. Now the Namibian Justice System has asked the communities to pay 520 000NAD! This is an outrage and shows how unjust the system is and how ruthless polluters are. #SaveTheOkavangoDelta
A group of private game farmers, Help our Rhino Now Namibia (HoRN.nam), is offering a reward of N$100 000 for information leading to the arrest of poachers who shot a rhino at a farm near Windhoek. https://t.co/hoJJ5nZK10
I return from IMPAC5 in Vancouver heartened by the determination of ocean activists to establish 30x30 in locations of most relevance to marine biodiversity. I remain deeply concerned re funding of MPAs & the underwhelming global response to the Global Biodiversity Framework.
//Huab Conservancy, a black rhino custodian in Namibia is threatened by a mining project that did not follow due processes in its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The community-run conservancy is taking Minister Shifeta to court.
