Back in 1943, the team saves Barbieland and stops the Kens’ Atomic Weapon. As Barbie consoles Ken (Ryan Gosling), President Barbie (Issa Rae) agrees to elevate the Kens’ societal status. After, Barbie, moved by this journey, decides to go back to the Real World and study physics

We then enter Oppenheimer’s mind as he imagines a nuclear fallout engulfing both the Real World and Barbieland.

Jumping forward again to the 1954 security hearing, the committee calls Toni Oppenheimer, who speaks to her father’s character during these events

After healing Physicist Barbie (Emma Mackey), Oppie consults with her, and her calculations find the bomb won’t destroy the world. Oppie then asks Physicist Barbie to come to Los Alamos, but she declines. However, she warns him of this power, and dubs him an American Prometheus

Barbie becomes depressed at this loss, but then Kitty (Emily Blunt) gives an impassioned speech about striving through womanhood, which inspires Barbie. They then all plan to use this speech to free the other Barbies and take back Barbieland

Meanwhile, Ken explores Los Alamos and, upon seeing men in charge, discovers patriarchy. Ken then meets J. Robert Oppenheimer/Oppie, the director of Los Alamos, and asks him to share his research so Ken can take it back to Barbieland. Oppenheimer calls this treason

But when they return to Barbieland, the Kens have taken over, brainwashed the other barbies, created Mojo Alamo Casa Houses, and are building their own Atomic Bomb

Oppenheimer, his wife Kitty, and Toni take in Barbie. Oppie then explains his worry that the bomb could destroy the world. So, to relax, he at times plays with Toni’s Barbies. They then all realize that it’s HIS thoughts entering Barbie’s mind. So, they go to Barbieland to help
