Some dogs burst into a room…Grace quietly steals your heart. 🐾❤️

This beautiful 3-year-old Hound mix may be a little shy when you first meet her, but once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines. Earn her trust, and you’ll be rewarded with gentle kisses, happy tail wags, and a loyal best friend for life. 🥰

Grace loves stretching her legs with zoomies in the dog park and believes belly rubs should be a daily requirement. She's looking for patient, experienced adopers who will let her blossom at her own pace and continue building her confidence. 🌸

And as for sharing the spotlight? Not for this girl! 👑 Grace would prefer to be the only dog in the home so she can soak up every ounce of love and attention - and honestly, she deserves it.

Recently, one of our Team Leaders, Chris, came in on his day off to spend a fun-filled day with his favorite dog, Alice.

Come along virtually on their walk, and you can see their bond instantly. It’s obvious how much Chris cares about this beautiful girl and how badly he wants to see her finally get the happy ending she deserves.

Alice (#G25956), a 6-year-old Pitbull Terrier mix, has been waiting patiently for the right home. 
She may need a little time to open up, but once she does, Alice becomes the sweetest, silliest, most affectionate companion. She loves deeply, snuggles wholeheartedly, and cherishes every moment with the people she trusts.

Alice is looking for a calm, experienced, adults-only home where she can feel safe, understood, and loved. She’d prefer to be your one and only, soaking up all the attention she’s been dreaming about for far too long.

She’s been strong for so long. Now she just needs someone to finally choose her. ❤️

💙 Meet Dallas #AK0130 💙

At just 1½ years old, this handsome Doberman Pinscher mix has already spent far too much of his life waiting for someone to choose him. Rescued from our shelter partners in Arkansas in December 2024, Dallas arrived at North Shore Animal League America with a huge heart and a medical hurdle to overcome.

After being diagnosed with epilepsy, Dallas received dedicated care from our medical team, and his condition is covered for life through our Pet Health Centers, so his future family can focus on what truly matters: loving him.

Dallas is affectionate, eager to learn, and works hard on his training every single day. He’s looking for an experienced, confident adopter who can help guide him as he continues to grow and thrive. Dallas enjoys the company of other dogs too - he’ll just need a proper meet-and-greet to make sure it’s the perfect match.

He’s waited long enough for his happy ending. Now all Dallas needs is someone to believe in him and give him the forever home he deserves. 🐾❤️

We grabbed our best camera and tried to capture the perfect photo of Meeka. Not bad, if we do say so ourselves! 📸😉

But honestly, Meeka speaks for herself. She’s a sweet, adorable 5-year-old who is more than ready to trade her shelter suite for a forever home. ❤️

Three-year-old Cooper (#IR1451) has spent far too long wondering when it’ll finally be his turn. 💔🐾

Rescued from Antigua in 2023, this handsome Terrier mix arrived full of hope and quickly found a home. But after his adopter became seriously ill and could no longer care for him, Cooper suddenly found himself back at the shelter. Since then, he’s experienced more change and heartbreak than any dog should.

Despite it all, Cooper still believes in people. 🥺 He may be a little shy when meeting someone new, but once you earn his trust, you’ll discover a loyal, goofy, loving best friend who just wants to feel safe and loved. He enjoys playing with a few canine pals at our Adoption Center and would thrive in a patient, experienced adults only home that will give him the time he needs to settle in and shine.

Every day, Cooper watches other dogs leave for their forever homes while he waits quietly behind. We know his person is out there - someone who will see past his nerves and into the incredible dog he truly is. 🏡✨

Adventure Club days = the BEST days 💛🐾

Volunteer superstars Norma and Deanna recently took Sugar (#G25242) on a beach day adventure, and it was pure joy from start to finish. This 8-year-old Pitbull Terrier mix soaked up every second - rolling in the sand, sprinting along the shoreline, and flashing those big, happy smiles that say this is what life is all about. 🌊☀️

These outings aren’t just fun (though clearly, Sugar would argue they’re very important for that reason alone!) - they give our dogs a chance to decompress, explore the world, and show off who they truly are outside the shelter. And Sugar? She absolutely shines. ✨

Sugar has been with us for a few years and is looking for a very specific - but very special - home. She would do best in an adults-only household where she can take her time warming up to new faces. She prefers to be your one-and-only pet and would thrive in a quieter, non-city environment where she can truly relax. She’s crate trained, knows her basic cues, and has been working hard with our Pet Behavior team to keep building her confidence every day.

Underneath it all, Sugar is exactly what her name promises - sweet, soulful, and so ready to love her person. She just needs someone willing to see her for who she is and give her the chance she deserves. 💕

6-month-old Bitsy (#NCR8896) is more than a pretty face. This purr machine has spent a little time with our vets to ensure she’s had the best care while readying her for adoption.

Our vets discovered she has a wedged spinal vertebrae, a congenital spinal malformation, yet she’s living completely contentedly as the awesome little comfy-bed-loving calico that she is. 🐱💕

Despite her little obstacle, she’s living her very best life and is prepared to pass the gratitude she’s been feeling onto her first real family.

Her trip up north from North Carolina was definitely worth it since she’s now on the right path to finding a family worthy of her.

Meeka is a sweet 5-year-old feline who deserves to know what it feels like to have a family of her very own. She’s got personality, charm, and plenty of love to give—and adopting her is a no-brainer! 🐾

🐾 Say hello to Honeycomb #H213045!

Tiny 4-month-old Honeycomb didn’t have the best start to his life in a yard on Long Island, but fortunately for him, a rescuer pulled him out of the garden and set his life on a very different course.

It took a moment for this tenderhearted tabby to feel safe on the inside, so imagine our delight when we caught him frolicking with toys after just a few days. 🥹

Our vets have created a plan for his keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), a chronic condition of dry eye caused by a lack of tear production that will require an assist from humans to keep his eyes lubricated. As a covered medical condition, his treatment will be provided at cost through our Pet Health Centers.

He may need a tiny bit of support from you, but he’ll repay you with a lifetime of devotion because he knows you’re the hero he’s been waiting for. ❤️🐱

1-year-old momma Hydrogen (#D47111) was only a catten herself when she fended for her burgeoning family of four kittens throughout the troubling days of early motherhood. To further traumatize her little family, they were abandoned to our care when they needed humans to depend upon the most.

Fortunately, our wonderful vets stepped in and gave them a warm, loving environment to help them settle into an entirely new phase of their lives. While her kittens will never remember the perilous start to life they had, Hydrogen will need tender, patient hands to guide her into believing we humans are full of love for her.

She brightens up when a roommate joins her for a cuddle. A home with older children and a feline friend waiting to support her will bring out her inner kitten once again. Her rough beginning outdoors left her FIV+, but now indoors furever, she’ll have only comfort to look forward to.

All she needs is a committed hero to encourage her that the brightest days of her life are what’s ahead. ❤️🐱 #getyourrescueon #biancasfurryfriends #caturday

Helen (#H213092) and Rupert (#H213093) are a proper pair of 4-month-old tabbies in search of a proper home to call their own.

The life they were leading outdoors wasn’t befitting such a lovely, loving pair. Fortunately for them, they happened upon a local hero rescuer who secured them a spot in Bianca’s Furry Friends.

Comfy beds and quiet corners are new for them, but they’re getting the hang of this style of living. It won’t be long before they’re ambling over for a spot of tea and a lengthy ear-rubbing session. ☕🐱

Contentment suits them, and your loving attention is just the thing that’s been missing.

🐾 Meet bonded siblings Mitochondria #D47126 and Centriole #D47127!

Mitochondria and Centriole share a sordid past that they’re hoping they can put behind them, but the newness of shelter life left them feeling a bit overwhelmed and longing for the only life they ever knew before they were abandoned.

Mitochondria emerged with confidence once he saw how much indoor living could mean for them. Never worrying about their next meal or safety from outside dangers? Playtime with furiends? Yes please! 🐾

While Centriole still carries her concerns, she’s been perking up for pets and treats. It’s only a matter of time before she abandons all fears and joins in on the playtime parties she watches with interest from the sidelines.

🐾 Meet Ribosome (#D47123)!

After a rough life outdoors and an abrupt entrance to shelter life, 2-year-old Ribosome wasn’t prepared to accept comfort from humans, but sought it from cats she better understood.

A quiet room shared with likeminded friends was exactly the introduction to her new beginning this gorgeous gal needed to believe life as a beloved family member was everything and more she could ever hope for.

Now surrounded by her roommates, Ribosome joins in on all the fun and even accepts gentle affection from human admirers. Playtime and treats are new to her, yet she embraces them like she never had a worried moment in her past.
