MY PALUTENA VIDEO IS DONE This is a video I planned for.... months. An homage to palutena and how smash bros kind of misrepresented her character, with a proposal of a fix of her moveset and character representation

Why I'm Tired of How This Fandom Treats Betilla
👇 👇 👇
1.I draw and see Rayman and Betilla as a couple. That's my interpretation. What frustrates me is how often people jump into comments under my art (and other artists' art) to insist that the mother/son headcanon is "canon."
The Rayman universe has never had a perfectly consistent lore. Different games, manuals, and materials often contradict each other. Unless the creators explicitly confirm something in the games or directly state it themselves, calling a headcanon "canon" is just personal interpretation presented as fact.
We're supposed to be a welcoming fandom. If you don't like a ship, that's fine. But disagreeing with something doesn't automatically make you right.
2.I also think reducing Betilla to a motherly or mentor-only role is a mistake for the character's future.
She's one of the oldest and most recognizable female characters in the franchise. Keeping her permanently in a secondary role instead of allowing her to be an active part of Rayman's adventures would be a waste of her potential.
Imagine if characters like Amy Rose or Princess Peach had remained nothing but damsels in distress for decades. They would have lost much of what made them memorable.
I've loved Betilla since I was six years old. I don't want to see one of the franchise's most important female characters pushed further and further into the background.
3.The Rayman lore is full of contradictions, and everyone picks the parts they prefer.
Some fans reject certain backstories as non-canon, while others accept them. So where exactly is the objective line? That's why trying to force the entire fandom into one interpretation makes no sense.
The mother/son idea is still a headcanon, not an established fact. If this question was truly important to the franchise, I think Ubisoft or the developers would have clarified it years ago.
Let's just respect different interpretations and let people enjoy the characters in peace.
