Look at the all the different things the manager & players have said the past few months:
- Bruno Fernandes said to Stephen Bartlett that Ruben Amorim wasn't sacked for results/sporting reasons.
- Harry Maguire said in preseason we needed more players, better quality to come into the starting eleven.
- Luke Shaw said after the win vs Ipswich they can win the league, but needed to make the squad stronger.
- Michael Carrick said in preseason in Dublin about the need to strengthen, with a demand for more additions.
Lisandro Martinez's comments shouldn't be a surprise, because they are a long time coming.
A very emotional day (so please bear with me for one final essay 😅).
There are some experiences in life that you know you’ll carry with you forever, and being part of Kerala Blasters will always be one of mine.
Football clubs are built by people, but they become something much bigger because of the people who care about them. I’ve seen that first-hand at Kerala Blasters. From the very beginning, there was something different about this club. The passion, the madness, the way people spoke about it, lived it, and felt every moment of it — you could never really be around Kerala Blasters without being swept up in it yourself. Over the years, I feel incredibly lucky to have experienced that from the inside.
We always wanted to leave Kerala Blasters in a better place than we found it. While the ultimate trophy may have eluded us, we believed deeply that success would only mean something if it was built on foundations that belonged to the club itself. That meant creating our own home and training ground at the Sanctuary, building a genuine player development pathway, and having the conviction to back young players and give them a real opportunity to grow into Kerala Blasters players. More than anything, we wanted this to become a club with an identity of its own — one that believed in its people and its system and had the courage to stay true to that belief. I hope we have left the club with those foundations firmly in place.
Thank you for the incredible moments, the unbelievable highs, the difficult days, and for standing by the club through all of it. Thank you for the patience when we got things wrong, and for forgiving us for the mistakes we inevitably made along the way.
To everyone I’ve worked with along the way — players, coaches, staff, partners, colleagues and everyone behind the scenes — thank you. A special thank you to Abhik, Shushen, Antony Manu, Rizwan, Karolis, Pratik, Coach Ivan, and Coach Ishfaq whose support, guidance and friendship throughout this journey have been a true blessing. What we shared went far beyond football, and that is something I will always be deeply grateful for.
And to the supporters, thank you for the passion, the patience, the criticism, the belief and for making this club what it is. I’ll carry the memories and friendships from these years with me for a very long time. And I genuinely hope that one day, when that trophy finally comes, I get to stand alongside you again, see you celebrate, and watch you paint the entire state yellow. I eagerly look forward to that day.
I’ll miss a lot of things, but I know I’ll never really be far away from this club. There is a lot of emotion today, but even more gratitude.
Thank you for letting us be a small part of your story 💛
Most of the rest of India with their nicer and faster trains don't really understand what we go through in Keralam. This is the condition of most of our MEMU trains.
Discarded EMU rakes that reached end of life after running for 20 years on the Chennai Suburban network. Southern Railway promptly shunts all the oldest coaches in the zone to run in Keralam. This particular rake was built in 2002 and is now 24 years old!
What I can't capture here is the smell - That musty stink of decades of wet, rusting steel mixed with god knows what else. This train would've been considered a toxic health hazard in any other country. Okay - we don't have many industries but we are human too and deserve to travel in a minimum level of dignity. @gmsrailway@railminindia@vdsatheesan@AshwiniVaishnaw
