My thoughts with #teachers
If the new strain is so prevalent in young children then it makes sense to move education online. Yes,our children need to be taught, but more importantly we all need to stamp out this virus.
ONS, breaches, + teachers: THREAD
Today I reported an ONS breach to the UK Statistics Authority.
Two breaches in fact: one regarding an “ad hoc” analysis on education staff in part 9 of the 6 Nov ONS covid survey pilot, and one for a related 3 Nov government leak. 1/
@sarahkendzior Stay home, keep distance, wear masks, wash hands, test if necessary. I am a pathologist in Germany. We have lots of #COVID19 autopsies. The lungs look terrible. Even if you don’t die #COVID19 may have long term consequences. Don’t take that risk. Listen to science.

'...the transmissibility from children aged 2-11 and 12-16 is no different or very similar to that from adults...external exposure (i.e. bringing infection into the
household) for children aged 2-11 and 12-16 was found to be higher than for adults.'
People with no sense fixated on Sweden and promoted it in order to attack attempts to control #COVID19 in the UK and Ireland. How wrong they were. https://t.co/1mmtAX5j8N via @businessinsider
@CateycaneCate @Damian46223793 @ChristineBrett8 @potat0_pizza The extent to which aysymptomatic children are spreading covid is still very much under review.
@CateycaneCate @Damian46223793 @ChristineBrett8 @potat0_pizza This study was also between Feb and Aug. Lockdown then school holidays. The kids weren't at school.
@CateycaneCate @ChristineBrett8 @potat0_pizza No it's not. Evidence on whether or not younger children transmit covid is weak. Older children transmit it just as much as adults.
UK & US are also attempting a
#HerdImmunity strategy despite the fact almost every epidemiologist/virologist will tell you that Herd Immunity is an “outcome”, never a “strategy”
Late lockdowns, keeping schools/workplaces open etc are political decisions not just scientific ones
