Bridget Phillipson has said she wants to 'better join' Ofsted’s inspection of schools with its role of 'understanding the services and support' for children in their communities
Here's what we learned from her first sector address...

Just been to the @educationgovuk to meet @bphillipsonMP. I have hope our profession can once again be valued & treated with the respect it deserves. That starts at the top & after speaking to Bridget & the new schools minister @CMcKinnellMP I feel positive which is so refreshing.
A blog I wrote a while ago about why education will never have top billing in an election manifesto.
It’s too much of a long term investment.
Some of the names have changed, but the issues are the same.

With the announcement of the general election, the worst thing we could do is to think because of all the polls, it is a forgone conclusion. We all need to vote, everyone needs to vote and hopefully we will see some much needed change for good!
£79,558 is a simply staggering amount, a huge, life-changing sum that Govt policy has taken from your earnings in the last 12 yrs. Enough is enough.
Govt looks set to back a paltry 1-2% pay rise for this year: if so, the NEU will launch a preliminary ballot on 2 March. #PayUp24
“The NEU strongly oppose the introduction of minimum service levels (MSLs). We do not acknowledge the validity of MSLs given their impact on the fundamental right to strike, therefore we do not believe this is an appropriate topic for the Government or Department for Education to regulate.” @DanielKebedeNEU
Instead of restricting workers’ right to strike, the Government should address the pay, workload and recruitment and retention crisis. These are the consequences of 13 years of Conservative education policy. Parents expect better, and our children certainly deserve more. #ValueEducation

@MrBoothY6 @EmmaTweets82 It’s not the responsibility of the airline or other passengers to ensure that parents and their children are seated together when everyone has the opportunity to pre-book seats! I’d not feel the slightest bit guilty…. Unless I was the parent who hadn’t booked seats!!
All four education unions have pledged to work together to campaign for a fully-funded above inflation pay rise, by holding a joint school meeting on 19 June.

There's debate over @NAHTnews stance on its members handing in their Ofsted badges. In 2022, 800 of just over 1000 inspectors were serving heads.
Imagine if you all temporarily handed in your badges until reform happened.
JUST this could change everything.
Enough is Enough.
🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨
In an unprecedented move, @NEUnion, @ASCL_UK, @NASUWT and @NAHTnews have announced all four unions will coordinate future industrial action in their dispute with Govt.
Just a thought. It would be great if the government would put the same amount of effort into resolving the pay dispute - eg perhaps talking to education trade unions - as they do into writing these defensive and misleading blogs. As I say, just a thought. https://t.co/I2yReGyUCI
