Kemaren kemaren kemana aja? ☹️
Open Letter to Yamaha Corporation – Hamamatsu, Japan
Regarding Union Suppression and Unlawful Terminations at PT Yamaha Music Manufacturing Asia (Indonesia)
To: The Executive Leadership of Yamaha Corporation

Subject: Corporate Responsibility and Immediate Action Needed to Address Labor Rights Violations in Indonesia
Dear Yamaha Executives,
We, the undersigned members of the international labor and human rights community, write to express our deep concern and strong condemnation of the recent actions taken by your subsidiary, PT Yamaha Music Manufacturing Asia (YMMA) in Bekasi, Indonesia.
On February 27, 2025, two respected union leaders—Slamet Bambang Waluyo and Wiwin Zaini Miftah, respectively the Chair and Secretary of the local union PUK SPEE FSPMI Yamaha Music—were unlawfully dismissed by PT YMMA on the basis of unproven allegations tied to their union activities. These activities, which occurred outside working hours, were entirely legal and constitutionally protected under Article 153(1)(g) of Indonesia’s Manpower Act, which prohibits termination of employment for union-related activities.
This decision has been formally opposed by:
Indonesia’s Ministry of Manpower, via official letter No. 4/50/HI.00.1/III/2025
The Bekasi Regency Manpower Office, who ordered reinstatement
Deputy Regent of Bekasi, who publicly urged peaceful resolution
Yet, Yamaha Indonesia has chosen to ignore these recommendations and escalate the matter to court, prolonging a conflict that could—and should—have been resolved through dialogue.
We respectfully ask: Is this the corporate culture that Yamaha Corporation wishes to represent globally?
As a multinational company with a proud reputation in the music and electronics industries, Yamaha Corporation has a responsibility to uphold international labor standards, not only in its headquarters in Japan, but across its entire global supply chain.
We urge Yamaha Corporation to:
Immediately intervene and reverse the unjust dismissals of Slamet Bambang Waluyo and Wiwin Zaini Miftah.
Ensure full compliance with Indonesian labor law, including the reinstatement of employment and all back wages due.
Uphold the right to freedom of association at all Yamaha-owned or affiliated facilities.
Establish transparent oversight mechanisms to prevent future cases of union-busting or retaliation.
The global labor community is watching. Yamaha’s silence and inaction will be seen as complicity. A failure to address this injustice will not only tarnish the brand’s reputation among workers and consumers worldwide, but also raise serious questions about its ethical commitments.
Justice must be restored. Labor rights must be respected.
