Truth:
India is currently importing around 2.5 million barrels of crude oil per day from Russia, accounting for nearly 50% of its crude imports.
Since 2022, Russia has consistently remained one of India’s largest crude oil suppliers.
The concept of “waivers” largely applied to certain European nations and specific sanction related frameworks not to India’s ongoing purchases.
India continued purchasing Russian oil even during periods when no such waiver mechanism existed.
India’s energy decisions are guided by national interest, energy security, and economic stability .
