@gemsofbabus_ I agree - the makeover doesn't do justice to the place. I wrote a poignant story from the perspective of a sepoy who was there at the time of the massacre. Please read it here: https://t.co/PcFGTf7SjK
India's first railway #Mumbai! Discovered some of the older rail tracks belonging to the Great Indian Peninsula Railway (GIPR) era between Kurla & Vidyavihar as a part of ongoing research walking up bits of India’s first passenger railway between Mumbai-Thane all over again, siding to siding with due permissions. The track set is complete with the earliest form of cast iron CST 9 plate sleepers.
The area, the site of the first original electric train carshed post 1925, had largely remained unexplored in my earlier walks. This side of rail line has more or less remained untouched for decades and is now being opened up to lay new tracks. Was on the list to do it for a long time. Finally done now. Thks to Central Railway and team. A week later, April 16 marks the completion of 170 years of Indian Railways. @mumbaiheritage@RailMinIndia
