Everything else, money, fame, prestige, social respect, is merely the desirable and decorative side-effects of that power. They are the glitter around the throne, not the throne itself.

The reasons they give in interviews, “cleaning the system,” “changing people’s lives”, are about as genuine as an Indian Miss World contestant saying her idol is Mother Teresa and that she wants to dedicate her life to uplifting society, only to be seen in a Bollywood film within a year.
