What is the point of the Post? Its political coverage rates below Politico and the Times, opinion page is out of sync w readers, no international, local, or sports coverage, and now now weather. It’s deliberate destruction of an institution.
By that logic, we should abandon all medicine. You can’t prove absolute safety — that’s proving a negative.
What we CAN prove: 40+ years of hepatitis B vaccination. Billions of doses. Anaphylaxis at 1 per million. Meanwhile, 90% of infected newborns develop chronic disease, 25% die of liver cancer.
This isn’t philosophy class. We make decisions based on evidence, not impossible standards. We have four decades of safety data from billions of doses worldwide.
Your statement is technically true and practically useless. Water can’t prove ‘lack of safety’ either. Should we stop giving it to babies?
We don’t have ‘absence of data.’ We have mountains of evidence. You’re demanding logical impossibilities while ignoring decades of proof. Playing word games while babies’ lives are at stake.

@tweetelissa@WashProbs You can say there are problems, but doing so at the same time as this theatrical takeover is happening shows compliance. Pointing out that Congress is holding our budget hostage would be useful. There are problems. And plenty of good thoughtful people working to make progess
The Blue Origin women..."positioning themselves as aspirational models of femininity – have presented a profoundly antifeminist vision of what womankind’s future is: dependent on men, confined to triviality, and deeply, deeply silly." @MoiraDonegan

I think condemning countless HIV patients to death for no reason — while potentially incubating a new, drug-resistant strain of HIV — is a more consequential act of misgovernance than spending $25,000 on a queer opera in Peru. But I know many on this site beg to differ

@gregggonsalves We need to put in place an actual system of long-term care that supports all aging health needs. Long-term care insurance no longer is a viable option & older people & caregivers are left with a confusing & expensive set of choices when health needs increase.
.@PoPville any word on what happened there yesterday afternoon. Got an alert from DC parks & Rec about emergency/police & the pool is closed again today.
