Thomas Paine publishes an open letter in the Pennsylvania Evening Post, under the name “Republicus,” which advocates for the name “United States of America” for the new nation now emerging.
This is the first time such a term has been used.
That time a THE PRICE IS RIGHT contestant (Alene Glover) blacked out after winning the Showcase, so the show just ran the credits while they tried to revive her lol (1976)
Every year, I share this video of French caretakers who take sand from Omaha Beach in Normandy, and scrub them into the letters to give them the gold coloring.
They do this for all 9,386 US soldiers who died.
France also gave us this land as American soil. #MemorialDayWeekend

In the heart of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, bison roam as the light of a new day touches the North Dakota Badlands. The timeless beauty of this landscape seems almost untouched, echoing the days when a young Theodore Roosevelt first set foot here.

Many people know my story, but not everyone knows Bryce Dunlap...
Bryce gave me the gift of life through his liver donation.
That kind of selflessness stays with you forever.
To honor Bryce, once a month I’m going to randomly select someone and do something special for them, like to sign something, make a memory, share a moment in his name.
Today, I get to do this for the very first person.
This one’s for you, Bryce.

Yet, even greater than food or clothes—which are necessary for life—faith is even more essential. “For with God, life finds salvation”, the Pope said.
A badly damaged pickup truck in South Bend, Indiana drew attention and online jokes from people who couldn’t believe it was still on the road.
But with help from one local resident, strangers looked past the spectacle, came together to raise money for a replacement and made a real difference for the man who depended on it. @SteveHartmanCBS reports. https://t.co/NrQOI5TQnv
