@elonmusk It makes economic sense to harvest solar energy in space and utilize it there. Beaming it down to Earth is a separate, more costly proposition. Capturing "1% of the flux reaching Earth" is the goal of a lunar-based industry, not one based on satellites in near-Earth orbit.
