Researchers have developed 4 antimicrobial cyclic peptides — Bor-11, Bor-16, Bor-18, and Bor-26 — that can cross the blood-brain barrier and proved highly effective at eliminating both the active and dormant forms of Lyme disease bacteria. Via @Nature https://t.co/LCJqj7zxi7

In the cervical lymph nodes, “the germinal centre responses [for Long Covid patients] are severely hindered early on,” says Dr. Michela Locci. “They try to catch up later on, but they’re still very low in comparison to the peak of the response in healthy [controls].”
Since fascia is also an important energetic and communicatory organ, fibrosis here can have drastic effects throughout the organism. Skewed mechanical information, biophoton signaling, and more can all result from this.

Polybio is supporting several trials of potential #LongCovid treatments. Working with @PutrinoLab & @CoRESinai, Polybio President Dr. Amy Proal is spearheading an investigation of repurposed HIV antivirals Truvada & Maraviroc for treatment of LC, targeting viral reservoirs
I am sure I will miss some but let's start with the vascular syndromes: Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome, Neurogenic Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome, Nutcracker Syndrome, May-Thurner Syndrome, and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.
Research discovered that EDS patients need to weigh up the costs & benefits before doing activity.
- is it worth it?
- will this activity make my pain worse?
- pain is unpredictable - not sure how it will respond
- the emotional cost of pain
Every day decisions.
@chydorina The big issue for B3 (derivatives) is that it puts the brakes on methylation.
And many (most?) of us are 'under-methylators', with issues in B12, B9, B2, MTHFR, etc, etc.
Lowish dose NMN gave me an initial physical boost, then mid-sleep nausea, etc: https://t.co/ieyn1RitKQ
Vitamin D plays a role in inflammation, mitochondrial function, and serotonin synthesis.
Deficiency is linked to a 60% higher odds of depression (2x if under 50).
But the right supplementation regimen can significantly improve symptoms—here’s what the research says 🧵1/10
A recent study has uncovered significant mitochondrial abnormalities in #LongCOVID patients, highlighting how mitochondrial dysfunction may play a central role in the persistence of symptoms associated with post-COVID syndrome.
This study emphasizes that mitochondrial biomarkers could be critical in identifying, treating, and monitoring Long COVID.
• Mitochondrial Distress: Long COVID patients showed notable mitochondrial changes, including swelling, disrupted internal structures, and irregular shapes, signaling ongoing mitochondrial stress and oxidative damage.
• Reduced Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA): Blood tests indicated lower levels of cell-free mitochondrial DNA in these patients, a sign of impaired mitochondrial recycling. This reduction in mtDNA might serve as a valuable biomarker to diagnose and monitor Long COVID.
• Chronic Symptoms: The impaired energy production due to mitochondrial issues could explain why symptoms like chronic fatigue, muscle weakness, and cognitive impairments persist in Long-term COVID sufferers. Additionally, the findings suggest links to oxidative stress and an altered immune response, which could further prolong recovery and affect multiple organs.
• Implications for Treatment: This breakthrough opens new avenues for mitochondrial-targeted therapies to help Long COVID patients. Potential treatments could include mitochondrial antioxidants, lifestyle changes, and emerging pharmaceuticals aimed at restoring #mitochondrialhealth and reducing oxidative stress.

Researchers @HopkinsMedicine report distinctive changes in the “white matter” and other brain tissue physiology of those with post-treatment Lyme disease, a condition affecting 10% to 20% of the nearly 500,000 Americans who contract Lyme disease annually.

Alles histaminfrei+kaufreundlich :)
For the first time we have convincing experimental evidence to show mechanism of herpesvirus-mediated mitochondrial alterations that makes sense for ME/CFS and possibly LongCovid. This is huge. It will take time to dissect out every aspect of it but we are thrilled and excited.
