I spend a lot of time explaining why we should care about genetic diversity in conservation. This is a great thread explaining why conserving all genetic diversity is key to conserving species.
There’s been a lot of talk lately about the role of genetic diversity in conservation (https://t.co/xNykYbPDmP) @_ellie_cat, @SarahFitz, @SamanthaSHauser, Phil Hedrick, @millerjm86, Dave Tallmon, and @fieldgenomics and I have a preprint on this:

A huge thank you to all the speakers who made the @BioSciChester Seminar Series 2020/21 so successful. What a fantastic array of research and interesting talks. I owe you all an in person pint! @Zen_of_Science @popgenchen @Raye_Francoeur @plantpollinator@ScrapNaturalist
Thanks to @AnnaPMuir for this weekend's challenge, successfully accomplished with @HighlandNewt and Colin Hall. We found a new site for white-faced darter, and collected samples for genetic analysis, as well as two new sites for northern emerald in a previously unrecorded area.
Fully funded PhD opportunity on the Spatiotemporal dynamics of wolves in the Alps with me, @MattGeary and Francesca Marucco. Co-financed by https://t.co/BXfV3gsmdr and @uochester (Sustainable Futures Studentships). Apply here: https://t.co/Ws6EseCHe1 Deadline 2nd July 2021!
Awesome to be out in Scotland in the sunshine for fieldwork at the start of the month, collecting White-faced darter larvae. My mini fieldwork assistants are now Sphagnum experts. Connectivity and management unit results to follow!
Great afternoon out with @HighlandNewt looking for white-faced darter larvae for @AnnaPMuir. We found lots but were so focused on our work that I forgot to photograph any, so here's a newly emerged Northern emerald instead!
WE'RE HIRING a Lecturer in Zoology with a focus on entomology @BioSciChester @ChesterConsBio. Any questions feel free to DM me. Short deadline - 7th June. Please RT!
