“I am of mix race
You can see it on my face
Don’t think of me as an unsolved case
I already know my fucking place
My heritage you don’t have to trace
Because I don’t have to choose
And I don’t care about your views”
I haven’t been very active for a while now, been trying to take care of myself.
On this journey of self love, with many self hate battles, I was able to write a poem.
I will post it in hope of people, who struggle with the same issue, finding comfort that they’re not alone.
“Hello I’m Anna and I’ll tell you where I’m from
I’m half Swede, I’m half Egyptian
No, I do not come with a description
Take me for who I am, don’t label me in a package
Take me as I am, with my full mixed baggage
I don’t have to choose sides
I’ve had my share of hateful rides”
“After years of feeling hopeless and concerned
After several of my personalities have got burned
I’m not one but I am both
It’s taken me a lot of self growth
To love both my sides
To know my waves, to know my tides
I’m proud to present to you the woman I’ve become..”
“I don’t want to, a side of me loath
Men say I’m exotic, hypnotic
Doctors say I’m psychotic
I’ve felt no love for who I am
I’ve walked around and felt like a scam
Don’t know where to fit in
Don’t know what to label my skin
But I have grown and I have learned
way..”
“All my life it’s never been up to me
People have chosen who I should be
I’ve wept, I’ve bled, always felt lost
My identity has always around been tossed
And who am I you ask
I tell you it’s my life long task
To figure out why I wear this mask
I am not one, but I am both..”
“Hello I’m Anna and I’m of mixed race
I bet you can tell by looking at my face
I live in a world where I have to choose
It’s led to my mind having loose screws
Ive not known who I belong to or how I should act
I look at the mirror and see my face cracked..”
